View Full Version : What you need to do to change your SXV550 into a killer machine
I've road-raced my SXV550 in the UK ...
1. Get the engine de-restricted and ignition remapped by someone who knows what they're doing with an AXONE.
2. Fit a Sil Motor race exhaust.
3. Buy some custom ear plugs - you'll need them.
4. Change the rear 46t sprocket to a 44t or lower.
5. Fit a CRF450 slipper clutch - Sigma (which I have) or STM. I used a CRF450 OEM clutch pack. Works flawlessly.
6. Get the suspension shortened and set up for racing.
7. Fit a GPR steering damper.
8. Get rid of the Dunlop D208RR rubber - it's crap, and a very nasty profile. I use Pirelli Supercorsa Pro SC1 front and SC2 rear. Works fine.

well can you come back and tell us more about your racing experience on the bike? No shit on the tires, hey.

What's up with the tyres? They are the softest rubber i've ever had the pleasure of sticking my thumb nail in.
I haven't actually riden my bike yet, only been able to stare at it in the shop!

If you need a steering damper on a supermoto bike, the suspension/geometry is very very wrong.

I have never been a fan of steering dampers for road or dirt.
I find my SXV is very stable on the road bumpy or not. I'd always look at suspension set up i.e. race sag spring ratios etc etc before anything else...

I think it would be helpfull at higher speeds, that's the only place a noticed anything. I say above 80-85 mph

Front tire pressure probally to high. My current Supermoto starts dancing around @ 75 mph when front tire pressure is above 30psi. Drop down to 26 and should dissappear.

I run the same Fr and Rr both about 26psi or 25psi. I've had a lot of success running these pressures on the street . For the track I drop down 2 - 4 psi depending on the temperature.
