Hmmm. The cans look huge in contrast to the bike. It kind of reminds me of Bertha Butt. Bertha weighed 80 pounds and her ass weighed 200 lbs.
I am actually more interested in the brush/hand guards.

Sorry Troll,
Not a criticism. The bike looks awesome. Exhaust noise is a big problem now in Europe (so I have heard on Speed TV) and all of the manufacturers are trying to achieve less noise without hurting power.

I would have to say those are probably standard pipes and there's got to be someone here on the forum that can make up the link pipes

Waxxer...I totally agree....Exhaust noise is an issue here also....at least at LAguna Seca it has been. I can see it becoming an issue at INfineo also inteh next 10 years the way they are building out here. I am in Petaluma, 10 mins from Infineon. Quieter is better....and yea..those are huge...
Don't worry....im not the kind of person who take offense to disagreements of style or taste...or opinion....I actually like to hear them all.
What I should have made clear was....Sometimes I will modify a bike for extra fuel range. Of all the pipes I have seen so far those would be the easiest to modify the tail end around for an extra gallon or two. You are in Palo Alto right? If so you know some of the great roads through the redwoods up here and sometimes ya just dont want to stop for anything when ya find a groove.
Im new to this board and it has been a great education for this kind of bike for me. I usually stick to SUperbikes but have recently hit the dual spoet and travel fever.
Maybe after I get a new bike we can hook up a ride.....
Enjoy.

They look far too big. I hope power gains are good as the Sil Motor systems are a lot smaller and consequently will be a lot lighter too.

By the looks of those and being a factory team I guess there is no concern about low side damage. I know that my 550 will see the ground more then a few times and the last thing I want is $1000 carbon Akra's eaten away.

Definitely my favorite set I have seen yet for the SXV. Crash damage be damned, those look the business and I can gurantee you one very important thing. Akro just makes pipes that work. They have a whole row of real brake dynos for the r&d department and if they need to look like this to make power in my mind that just makes them look right!

I will have to differ with you on this point. We are not all factory racers. Besides these look like slap-on in contrast to what I would imagine after market pipes to be. Look at the pipe joints from the exhaust header to the can.
This does not look an optimally tuned system. The headers look way too restrictive in conrast to the cans. Just my opinion. This is one of those Caveat Emptor situations. Let the buyer be aware.
I would need to see the data--personally.
:WTF:

OOP! I am basically in agreement with blow. These are amazingly vulnerable and yet are not proven in my opinion.

Im pretty sure those Akra's are just aftermarket cans bodged into the OE system, they are definately not the factory pipes as Sil motor were supposed to be the original factory pipes but unfortunately aprilia decided not to pay for them.
I fitted a Sil motor titanium system to one of the race bikes we look after today and the weight difference is immense, fit is near on perfect and the build quality is good too.
Sorry about picture quality:
