7.8 litres, which is about 2 gallons I think. I get about 65kms out of a tank before the fuel light kicks in.....

sounds about right. when the fuel light comes on there's a good litre left in there, according to the petrol pumps. my figs are stop start riding through town, before anyone asks it makes a great town bike, but my commute to work is only 8 miles!

OK....I read there was to be a 3.2 gallon tank available fro the US market. I wonder if you can get that tank from Aprilia special order?

I wish I knew something about the tank. I called a guy my Aprilia rep said to call on the Motard team way about six months ago. He told me that the 550 came with a 3.5 gal tank and if you wanted to use it on the 450 you had to change shrouds. Sounded like no big deal. He also told me he got 40+ mpg on the 550 SXV. Hey, that sounded great! When I went to the school last month the guys looked at me like i was stupid, they have never heard of a 3.5gal. tank. I've tried my rep again and the instructors at the school and no one seems to know anything about it?????

A 3.5 gal tank is a BIG tank, more like the size of a sportbike tank- it would look huge on a SM (and that's US or Imp gallons).
Yes you can get 40mpg (Imp) if you are keeping it down on the streets. Easily drops to 30mpg if you are moving it along.
