Washed my bike for the first time to day. Gauges are fine (so far) but when finished I discovered that the rear indicators could be a nice place for a goldfish or two. No high pressure washing. Just a spray from a garden hose. No sealings/gaskets around the lenses. :soap:
Is it the same on your bikes? No gaskets/sealings?

Mine is exactly the same- basically I remove the lenses and give them a wipe over after washing the bike (most times anyway!). I did get the instruments misted over when I first washed the bike (the misting came and went over a couple of weeks) but I now cover them over when I wash it to prevent this from happening.

Wow guys...that's really lame. What a terrible oversight. I thought we were taking steps forward not back.:WTF:

Yep. They pay all this attention to so many details, and make such a stunning bike in so many ways, but the basic things like making the gauges and indicators at least splash proof....!? :WTF:
Give me 1 hour with the Aprilia sealing/gasket/quality managment person and my garden hose!!!! :gunner:

How about wrapping the seam with that white plumbers tape they use to seal pipes? Would that work or does it just need a gasket?

A proper gasket is the only option.
Damn...that is what I have paid for!!! :pissed:

Mine does exactly the same mate, I have just got used to taking them off and wiping them with a leather every time I wash the bike.
I used to take the screen off to wipe because of all the water that goes down it when you wash it too, but the threaded bungs were starting to get iffy so I have stopped doing it.
Water marks still piss me off though. :bangwall:
Showroom condition after washing is the only acceptable way in my sad life !!
