I went by the Aprilia dealer in Charlotte, NC yesterday. They only had 4 bikes! A Futura, a Tuono, and 2 Mille's. He said they trickle in one at a time. The dealer in Raleigh, NC is sold out until the 2004's come in apparently. I drove to Charlotte just to see them. It's hard to get excited about the bikes when they don't have any!

Just landed in Charleston, SC a week ago from Austin, Texas.
I ride an Aprilia Falco.
Any other low country riders on this board?
Where are the good roads in South Carolina?

Hey Twin Ride, email me at jbashe@vnet.net. I would like to take a look at your Tuono. I have an FZ1 and Mille, double duty on the Mille at track days, sort of a pain. Thinking of plastics.

I kinda live in Charlotte and in Connecticut. I'm getting my Mille R from Performance Honda, the dealership that Ergo spoke of earlier. I'd have it by now, but I'm stuck in CT, until May/June. But I already have a deposit down on it. The dealership in Raleigh sold all there 03 bike on ebay, dirt cheap.

Shameless bump! :rambo:

I bought my bike in Woodstock,GA (MotoBritalia on 12/2003) and it's been great. NO regrets.

The local Aprilia dealer here in Raleigh went Japanese (Yam, Kaw, Suz). So, I get most of my parts at Capital BMW. Capital has Piaggio Scooters and Triumph cycles now...but they still look at my bike kinda funny! They are helpful as hell though. :p: Hopeful they will ad Aprilia one day!!?!!

Ride safe! :peace:

All we need is a warm weekend and it can be done. But i think the roads we want to ride are probably icy/snowy. (Correct me if i'm wrong!) Maybe this spring we do a ride to usher in the riding season???

I'm in. If we can't ride the BRP, there are plenty of other good roads in the area. Just outside my door.

In case any of you Charlotte area aprilia riders want to know, Mac's Speed Shop holds a European Bike night on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 9:00 and it's pretty cool. i went last week and was the only Aprilia out there so it would be really cool to get some more there next time. There were a few of that "other" Italian motorcycle brand, some Beemers, and a few Triumphs. It's a great way to meet people, see cool bikes and get some great BBQ. Plus there are a few hot waitresses, so what else do you need?

Im in Hendersonville near Enigma and Chilly along with others that dont post much on here. Ive been riding these roads since I was a kid and thats been a while. So if anyone is realy interseted in doing a Meet thing post up and lets get it rolling since the weather has turned.

Sure theres the Gap but the roads surrounding the Gap are just as good if not better for riding.

I'll try to hook up with you guys. I normally ride every Sunday as well with a guy from Marion and sometimes another guy from Linville. We'll either do a loop from Marion through Erwin, TN to Hot Springs, NC and back or maybe 181 then to Shady Valley, TN or something of the like. Of course, since I just bought the new bike, it's going to rain for two or three straight weekends. lol

I realy didnt play on that side of the mountain untill a couple years ago. Well hope to catch ya out on the roads or hook up for a loop sometime . I know the other board members that are around here wouldnt mind that either besides the more thumpers we got the better it is ,

Anybody make it out to Myrtle Beach bike week. I did saturday! 99% of the day all i heard was "what in the hell is that?" It's good to be not like every rice rocket or harley. It was funny no matter what mods they have done, they all looked and sounded the same. It was good to stand out in a good way. The Aprilia did get attention at red lights and running thru the gears. I was real proud of it. The bike didnt give me one ounce of trouble.

Thanks. It was a stupid mistake where we were good and warned where to expect your state's finest, but the lure of the road just is too powerful! I usually like to throw a beer or three into the equation after a good ride, so next time I'll try to find a place that isn't so far out of the way. Catch you all next time, and count on a beer too!

Sorry to hear about your NC LEO experience. :pissed:

Would it make you feel better to know a Pennsylvania LEO threatened me with impound, reckless driving, while I cruised through his town at 35 mph...but stood up and briefly stretched my legs!

in the interest of keepin this thread alive (i just "discovered" it), i'm in Blacksburg, Virginia (Home of the Hokies), near the BRP and a whole host of other good roads. my mom lives in Rockingham NC, sister lives in Ft Mill SC, so i get to NC and SC pretty often. sometimes i spend 6 hrs getting to my mom's house, 2 hrs visiting her, then 6 hrs getting to my sister's house, spend the night drinking brewskis with her and her hubbie, then spend a whole day getting home. life is good.

would love to get together with some other Aprilia riders. i've never seen another Tuono in person except at the International Motorcycle Show.

i bought red '03 in Detroit in Oct 06, with 365 miles on it. 6000 now.

I live in Jamestown, NC. Close to Greensboro. 2007 Factory RSV.

There are a few who meet almost every Sunday at the Shell station on Hwy. 68 north of the airport about 9:00 to 10:00 and hit the backroads all the way up to the Meadows of Dan and eat there and come back down the mountians. Plenty of twisties. It is a mixed group of bikes but it would be nice to take a bunch of Aprilia's out together.

Hey everyone...Raleigh/Cary NC here. I know of two other aprilia riders in the area. I have a white and silver '09 RSVR. Let me know if anyone in the area wants to ride. I was also looking for advice on a good dealership in the area. The local one leaves something to be desired. (I walked in and asked for an initial service on a Mille and got asked "What's a millie?) Also you guys should check out NCSportbikes.com. There are a lot of nc area riders on there and since most of you seem to be around Charlotte there are several guys/gals on there that live in that area. My screename is the same on here/NCS/and RSVzone. So drop me a line if you all wanna ride.

Hey, I'm in Raleigh with a 2000.5 RSVR. Yeah Matison's is not even an Aprilia dealer any more and when they were they weren't any good. I get everything from AF1 and do it myself. I guess you may want to do the dealer thing since it is a new bike. I would like to ride sometime. Let me know.

Hey folks, I'm in Stanley, NC 15 miles NW of downtown Charlotte. I own a 2003 Tuono. I ride in the mtns every weekend Spring,Summer, Fall, and the foothills in the winter. Would like to meet more Aprilia owners, maybe up at Macs this coming Tuesday night, Euro night. You can't miss me, I'm old and grey, on a red 2003 with a "unique" Harris pipe.

Hey Ken, I'm down the street from you - I live in Huntersville. My brother and I usually make the trip to Mac's for Euro night. I have a red '03 as well, and my brother rides a copper '03 SV1000S. We will look for you next Tues. We usually get there about 1900 hrs or so...

PM'd you, too.

Tireatr/Ken and R&D Guy, Hey, I'm close to both you guys and been wanting to meet some other riders as well.

I actually frequent both Stanley and Huntersville on almost a weekley basis as I am in West Charlotte right near Belmont.

I've been wanting to go to Mac's but it seems theres always something else I have to do the one time Euro Night comes up.

I'm sure I'll be up and running by the next one.

R&D Guy, might have even talked to your brother as I use to ride an 06 SV1000S and talked on the SVRIDER forums all the time.

John, Sorry I didn't get to meet you. It was good meeting Bert and R3djok3r (sorry I didn't get your name). I live over in Stanley and like to ride the foothills in the fall. If you keep an eye on the board, I'll see if I can lead a ride on one of the upcoming weekends.

Hey all NC/SC guys, I have my 6k service coming up quick. So far I've done everything myself but was wanting to get some warranty work done with the 6k service. Also get them to check on anything I don't have the tools to do.

Anyways, I want to hear some opinions on any local dealers. I'm in Charlotte and the closest guys are Interstate Cycle, and Mathews Fun Machines. So far, talking with both, I'm far from impressed if not even discouraged to take her to them. I'd be more than willing to ride further for good service.

So, any experience/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shane

Edit: Just did a Dealer search, I frequent greenville SC 3 times a week, and Touring Sport BMW is an Aprilia dealer, anybody have experience with them?

Shane,

Take it to Touring sport. Class act. Just had my 2nd service done there. They will allow you wait on some service, but ask you to leave it for others types, like Valve checks. The engine should be cold when checking valves etc.

I was thinking about going, but it is mentioned elsewhere on these forums that there is no Aprilia showing or from other Italian manufactures.

I would still like to go but now it feels like the main draw is gone.

s/w charlotte here. know about the mountains, great day trips available for us.

years ago could get some speed fix in minutes from the place and not have to worry too much about cops etc. now the subdivisions have taken over and only place to break the speed limit is on the highways, and we all know that's no fun :pissed:

looking for some quick spin routes closer to home, anyone recommend some areas?
