Martin,
Personally for me, I would prefer the weekend of 10th/11th June
but could do 3rd/4th if that weekend looks better for people.
Omen, what may i ask do you do in Madrid all the time ?
Hairy, how a picture can tell a thousand words! Poor bugger!
Arai Head, my other ride lives and works out in Madrid, which means I go out there every 2 weeks or so to eat, drink & generally enjoy myself. Only thing is, I don't have a Tuono out there. My secret is no more.

There isn't a plan yet but feel free to start one. This thread was started as a joke on the lads that said they where up for the northern meet but then cried off:fangs: but my attempt at sarcasm  (lowest form of wit) has been overshadowed by the need of Tuono riders to gather together and have fun, so watch this space for further news.

Unlike you nine to fivers I work on shifts and I am free the weekends of the 2nd/3rd/4th of June and 23rd/24th and 25th June, but the latter is probably too near to the Alps TT?
However, as I can get time off through the week I can come and annoy most of you blokes if you can get any time off midweek? There aren't many police around harrasing bikers through the week either.

I like Madrid. Used to know a very naughty young lady that lived there so I would regulary pay that fine city a visit. I would go back but as the years have passed I would imagine she has gone the way of many a spanish mother. Ahhhh those were the days.
Back to reality and I'm up for a meet but why do we have to wait till June ????

Me, Hairy and Omen had a blast on some cracking southern roads today in readiness for the royal visit of martin fennell to these sunny climes. We have a good route that will be an excellent shakedown for any of you fellas enrolled on the Alps TT, so lets see how many of the TT crew can make it. There will be ride outs on the 3rd and 4th of June and maybe a beer or three on the Saturday night?
My new Pilot Powers are now nicely scrubbed in and the freshly serviced steed goes like a goodun, other than a strange electrical gremlin when high in the revs at 9,500 plus rpm...the left indicator has developed a twitch.:WTF: This is likely down to a new (second hand) indicator cluster, but the problem seemed to go away once Omen and I had seen 148mph on the B2**1 (mentioned again just for you FTM:happy: ).
Hairy rode shotgun on account of his rear tyre de-laminating or some lame excuse:whiner: , this was not helped by him doing a mini burnout before we even left for the good stuff:burnout: . (Note to self, get 10x magnification rear mirrors to keep an eye on Hairy for the Alps TT:funnypost ).
Our man Hairy provided the comedy on this latest "Whilst you were working" epic. 3 riders, 3 Tuonos, all topped up with petrol before we set off. Guess which one ran out of fuel?:spankie:
Yes....Hairy again! This time he was near enough to the fuel station to push the wee beastie for the half mile required whilst me and Omen pissed ourselves laughing!
hairy
04-24-2006, 03:36 PM
feckers sitting drinking tea as i rolled in knackered and sweet running down my bollocks to the petrol station, lucky it was only about 300 yards and down hill, the beastie will be getting a new back tyre sat in plenty of time for the great north run:plus: the tyre looked ok when we set off,a bit bald in the middle but after or first stop[80 odd miles]the little cracks [dont even go there araihead] started appearing on the tyre, and then got gradually worse as the awesome pace set by that man omen closely followed by the doc:fangs: plenty of old bill about today but we were lucky again as we allways seem to meet them when not going flat out,we meet 3/4 motorbike cops coming the other way,2 minutes earlier and im sure they would have turned around after us:happy: one even gave us the nod:eek:

Or...we could sort out some inflight re-fuelling rig for motorcycles to save on fuel stops?

It looks like your new (second hand) indicator cluster has caused a problem with your speedo as well mate, that was 148kph not mph :) .
Did you get any rain? It was hazey sunshine from 12am where I was.
The Dr.Jon
04-25-2006, 01:11 AM
It was a cracking day with hazy sunshine for the most part thanks mate! I was tucked in behind Omen doing a bit of slip streaming to save on fuel, but I will check the data today for the actual reading in MPH from the dash.
Are you going to be able to come and play on the first weekend of June?:burnout:

I think we have got our wires crossed. I was offering to hold your coats in my capacity as a gentleman second, whilst observing that you and the Hairy man conducted yourselves in accodance with the rules of the Marquis of Queensbury as you settle your differnces. However, Hairy obviously wants to roll in the mud with you like a pair of queens whilst observing your differnces to an audience of shirt lifters....not my scene mate.

David, you are welcome to stay at mine on the Friday evening along with Martin Fennell, then it's a yet to be confirmed early start time to beat the feds and traffic. We will have to include a rendezvous point to meet up with the rest of the Sarf Landen Massive, could be Box Hill, or near Junction 6 of the M25 on the A22?

David, your step-son is welcome too. As for petrol cans, Hairy really does have one stashed near Box Hill for emergencies from his last but one running out of fuel episode!

I'll be delegating all responsibility for everything to everyone else. Including:- where we meet, what time we meet, camera work, navigation, catering, fuel provision, metrology, roadside engineering, finance, preperation, safety, stunt work and wardrobe.
Apart from riding my own bike.
Brilliant manager me. How else could I spend so much time on here
Responsibility accepted Martin,
I will make sure I have my camcorder on this time when Hairy runs out of petrol :bump:
Steve's footage should be quite interesting since he finds it very difficult to keep the R1's nose from pointing skywards half the time. What's his trip then and where & who is he going with? (If I'm not beeing too nosey)

Hi mook. Still getting used to the riding position. My backs so knackered from riding CBR/ZX6 that it doesnt respond too well to being sat up straight. Must be 20 years of slouching. :)
But on the twisties i reckon im 10% quicker than on the ZX6...Loving the torque. Finding im going a damn sight quicker than i realise with the twin compared to my old screaming 4. Gotta get used to that before i fly into a tree or summat. :)

FTM, Omen and Martin: you have e-mail re route suggestions.
FTM: Hartlepool, eh?
The best known tradition and legend associated with the fishermen of Hartlepool is the story of the hanging of the monkey. Tradition attributes this legend to the Napoleonic wars at the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was a December day and the coast at Hartlepool was subject to a heavy battering of gales and snow, through which a French vessel called the Chasse Maree could be vaguely seen just off the Hartlepool headland.
The fisherfolk of Hartlepool fearing an invasion kept a close watch on the French vessel as it struggled against the storm but when the vessel was severely battered and sunk they turned their attention to the wreckage washed ashore. Among the wreckage lay one wet and sorrowful looking survivor, the ship's pet monkey dressed to amuse in a military style uniform.
The fishermen apparently questioned the monkey and held a beach-based trial. Unfamiliar with what a Frenchman looked like they came to the conclusion that this monkey was a French spy and should be sentenced to death. The unfortunate creature was to die by hanging, with the mast of a fishing boat (a coble) providing a convenient gallows.
In former times, when war and strife
The French invasion threaten'd life
An' all was armed to the knife
The Fisherman hung the monkey O !
The Fishermen with courage high,
Siezed on the monkey for a French spy;
"Hang him !" says one; "he's to die"
They did and they hung the monkey Oh!
They tried every means to make him speak
And tortured the monkey till loud he did speak;
Says yen "thats french" says another "its Greek"
For the fishermen had got druncky oh!

Aye, im from Hartlepool...Cheers for the old monkey gag. Apparantly the monkey was a small boy which they used to call "powder monkeys" cos they were small enough to get round to the front of the cannon to get the gunpowder in. Anyhow at least we hung the smelly little french git, imagine his treatment if he'd have beached on Teeside! Everyone in the north east knows what they do with their kids. :p:

Looks like a couple of groups may be necessary and you blokes from the north will need to acclimatise to the southern heat.
See y'all Saturday at Box Hill for about 8am for some brekky and set off by 9am. Can everyone top up with fuel before meeting at Box Hill to save too much faffing! We can locate Hairy's fuel dump that is somewhere near Box Hill in the long grass for emergencies.:burnout:

Anymore for anymore....
any increase in the numbers yet?
have you all seen a map of Dr Jon's proposed route?
any one want a copy?
my calculations work out to about 12-14 Tuono's - higher if Twin4Me get's his new steed in time....
any idea of other makes/models coming....
i might have a mate of a trumpet of some sort....
hope Hairy has a shit, a piss and a cuppa before he leaves home - and fuel's up.
as the route is about 200 miles, should we have breakfast, stop for lunch/fuel then a cuppa/fuel in the afternoon....
not long to go now.... maybe even Airahead will join us!, though i assume Rudekid will not ??
i'm at a mates in South godstone tomorrow night, so i'll be up with the crack of dawn - if she lets me!

have a great day fellas,i'd love to come along but its not practical to travel that far that early for a rideout, cardiff to london that is.we also have a babysitter for the day so me and the missus are going out on the bikes together.
wednesday evening i was riding through the brecon beacons heading to rhayader to watch the motocross when i came across a nasty accident at story arms.a badly battered tuono was laying in its side on the verge along with another bike i couldn't identify.the tuono looked like the carbon clad ones with the ohlins suspension.saw a similar bike earlier in the day at thunder road in bridgend, possibly the one they had in the showroom until recently.hope the riders are ok.
ps.plenty of pics please.

Jon, thanks for your hospitality and the great BBQ!
Hairy - going to have to re-watch Raging Bull after we fast forwarded all parts to the film which didn't involve some sort of fighting.
Apart from FTM's mishap I think the ride out was a success and considering the numbers (14 in total, including 2 inferior bikes (Trumpet Speed Triple and a Ducati SR4) we all rode together well and no one got lost which was a result. It was good putting names to faces too.
1st Time Prilia - thanks for the maps you did and the "special" one for Hairy which included petrol stations and piss stops every couple of miles.
Tony, good luck in getting your Tuono sorted before the trip.
Thanks all for turning up and making the Tuono a little less rare then it actually is!
Bring on the French Alps
