Absolutely top day.... Looking at those videos though we might have been going a touch fast in places. Especially the one where Batfastard nearly rear ends me after we all came to a rather abrupt unschedualed stop.
Hope it all goes accrording to plan for FTM and you're up and running in time for the TT. Must say you were one calm chap considering the shunt you'd just had. Everyone else seemed more shaken than you. Bet that changed when the adreneline wore off though.
I'm obviously in need of some more training before the Alps as I was comletely knackered by the time I got home so god knows what sort of state I'll be in after eight days of it.

Cheers Paul for posting those vid's No problem, Damien. I think I have a couple of other nuggets but I was so knackered last night those are the only ones I could manage to upload. Camcorder is off to the repairers today so I can't post any more for a wee while.
I am glad you made it safely out of deepest darkest South London! I think I took a wrong turn near the river because I went through the Blackwall tunnel and then caught the A12 to the M11, never saw the A406 :WTF: but who cares.
p.s. - There is still one place up for grabs to join us in La Clusaz for one week starting Friday 30th June. Now that I would love to do, but short of a lottery win there is no way I can afford to take more time off this year.

Here's one from yesterdays mini ride out with Hairy, Martin and TuonoTim at Hikers.
http://f5.putfile.com/6/15504045396.jpg (http://www.putfile.com/)
I see HAIRY is wearing that famous 10stone jacket he wore on the GNM & MARTIN must have just finished dressing him, he will be looking in his top pocket to see if his fags are still soaking wet!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was great meeting everyone and apart from FTM's mishap (truly wish you and the bike speedy recovery mate) was great a day for it. Sunniest day of the year so far and yet more to come.
Special thanks to Doc, Damien and everyone else involved in planning the ride out. Cracking roads! Will have to rediscover some of them again.
It's good to see you guys had more luck with the weather and a better turn out than we did on the GNM, I'll definately have to get down for the next one.
FTM sorry to hear you pranged the beast, I hope you are both back on the road soon.

:bump: C'mon guys. Chuck the bikes in a container and spend a few weeks in the South Island of New Zealand during late February. Relatively light traffic flows, some policing but outstanding roads. Some people even check out the scenery which by all accounts is outstanding.
Hi there Clivoris [a forum Identity that takes some licking eh  ]
I am a bit quiet at work this afternoon, so I checked a price or two.
12 Tuono's airfreight to NZ - £44,500
12 Return flights - £9,600, call it £54k all in.
£4500 each.
So shall I book a container?

"Hello, is that the RAC"
"Yes sir, how can I help you"
"I fallen off me bike and I need some help"
" Certainly sir thats what we're here for, however I must warn you as we are quite busy there is a two hour wait at present where are you ?"
" er.....New Zealand"
"Could I have a post code for that sir as I can't seem to find it on my map"

That's the way lads. Anytime now it will start seeming like a reasonable mission. I am willing to assist by ameliorating some of the costs. I can set up base-camp in my backyard, make space in my garage for the bikes and I have a perfectly serviceable map from my last South Island tour that should photocopy ok. If I'm nice to my wife she might even make up some cut lunches we could take.

In no particular order.
Mook, 1st time, Harry H, Monkey Hanger, Twin4me & FTM,
Great to meet you and ride out with you all on Saturday, look forward to seeing the lads on the TT and maybe getting together with all of you again in the future.:)
FTM;
I trust all is as well as it can be with your situation. I'm sorry I'm not in a postion to offer practical help but not having any of the parts you need and living so far away I can't be of any real help. However I do have an idea, why don't you have a "re-build FTM' s bike party" I'm sure some of the lads closer to you will be up for it:rolleyes: :fangs:
BF;
Thanks for company on the ride South and for the footage of the ride out. Sorry you couldn't join the ride out on Sunday, we rode the same roads but traffic was lighter and with fewer riders it did flow better, you would have enjoyed it. sorry I caused us to be late starting, number plate issue.
Omen, Hairy, Tim
Great to meet you Tim and good to see Omen & Hairy again. You were all, along with BF & DJ, very good company for the BBQ on Sat night. For those that didn't make it to the BBQ, don't miss the next one.
And last but by no means least The Dr Jon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Top bloke. great Host, great sense of humour, great rider, great organiser, good looking:eek: scrap that last comment, just a slip of my fingers. I'm sure all those that took place on the southern meet and in particular those that shared the Dr's hospitality know exactly what I mean.
How good does it get, spending a weekend with like minded children, sorry adults that just want to ride bikes, not just any bike though, Tuono's!!! top weekend.
One last comment; Racers get paid to ride the right line on race tracks, us normal people pay road tax to have access to all of the black stuff (tarmac) and while there are faster lines and slower lines and line with a better view the RIGHT line is the one that gets you round to enjoy the next one. Just my opinion and I don't mean to be cotroversial and I'm not aiming my comments at anyone in particular considering what happened on Saturday, FTM made an error and let them that has made none cast the first stone, as they say.
Martin, aka Windy Miller.

Don't worry the number plate diversion hardly made us late did it. :)
It would have been too long a day to have done the rideout and then come North, I had to be in at work Monday - I'm off on Holiday next week and need to finish off a few bits here before I go.
Did you teach Hairy to pull wheelies then? :burnout:
Spent most of last night cleaning flies off the front of bike, and it still looks filthy. :WTF:
catch you later.
Geeze BF, I totally forgot about that drunken conversation where Hairy said that he wanted to learn to pull wheelies and we kept interrupting him whilst he was explaining how we should find a quiet road in order to practice on the next day. I recall he repeated effectively the same sentance about 5 or 6 times  Ah the memories.....:bump:

Hi BF
You wouldn't want to learn from me, did a wheelie of the crest of a hump back bridge and when I landed the bars swung round in the clamps:eek: and I hit my chin on the tank bag. Took me a while to pull up cos I couldn't see in the mirrors, stayed on though, all's well that ends well.
Haven't started cleaning the bike yet, back in Hull for the week so it'll be the weekend before I get started.
What mileage did you clock? I'm sure I covered nearly 800 mile by the time I got home.

Likewise I would also like to add my thanks to Dr Jon for all the fantastic organisation, thanks to all the others who helped as well.
Hopefully next time I will not be running a brand new bike in and can unleash the beast fully. I was also under strict instructions from my wife not to crash the new bike!
P.S. I agree that getting round the corner is the most important thing but Omen has some lovely lines arounfd corners, very stylish.

About 600 plus some change. I think we were doing 200+ each day.
I dropped my forks through the yokes to show 4 rings last night and tried it out - turns in better and doesn't weave upto 145 - most a full figured chap like me can manage - completely scrubbed off the chicken strips.

Spent most of the morning stripping the beast down to remove the flies that were accumulated over the weekend. I will fabricate some new bling grills for the TT. I have to say that the headlight protector makes the job of cleaning the front a lot easier.
The Dr.Jon
06-06-2006, 10:18 AM
I have also replaced the light cluster switch in the hope that this will cure the problem of the indicators going on by themselves everytime I accelerate over 6,000rpm(which would be all the time!). Those following me on the Southern Meet will know how frustrating this gremlin is.

Can I kill off something that's gone off track here. When I posted the "Hairy - wrong line mate" bit it was a pure piss take. Since it was actually you - look at the footage. You go wide in/tight out on a blind left hander & you don't gas it until you can see your exit is clear. Can't see anything wrong with that personally. I am riding on your heels because I am trying to film stuff - I actually passed you after Martin engaged his warp drive as I thought it might make for some good shots.

Tuono deb;
Hi, how you getting on, I take it you'll be busy now the sun is out. Anyhow I had an invite to Sandhurst from an old school friend so they were expecting me. Once thruogh security, photo taken, bike and personal details checked I had a free run of the place. It looks and feels more like a stately home than a Military Establishment, beautiful lawns, flower beds and a lake. The Officers where playing Cricket so I sat on the Pavilion all afternoon in the sun, watching and chilling out, a great end to a great weekend.
How's Geoff keeping, well I hope, I don't surpose you'd lend him your Tuono for the Alps TT. has he already asked? not that we wouldn't want your good self along but do you fancy playing mum to 9 adults going on 12 year olds:eek: , NO, didn't think so.
