Can anyone tell me what the fark the user code, key code thing is that my bike keeps asking me not to forget to enter? I checked the manual, but it's as useful as tits on a bull, doesn't even tell me what it's for, let alone how to do it.

You'll set up the immobilizer that way. Assuming that all Aprilia's are alike in this way, you'll scroll to MENU then to SETTINGS. Then only your key that was in the bike will start it. If you put in the spare key you have you will have to enter the code again. Nice feature, especially here in the Phoenix area.

Umm, I not normally too thick, but where do I get the code from? And then how do I enter it? And does this mean that any Aprilia key can start my bike at the moment. I thought the keys were already coded specifically to the bikes.

You go to the little button, left grip, under the headlight flash button or laptimer button, hold this in when the key is turned on with no engine running & the menu will come up on the dash.Go to settings, to do this you push the button to scroll through the options & when the line is on the option that you want you hold the button in until that option opens.Scroll down to recover code, hold the button on that & then you will have to enter a five digit code of your choice. To enter the first number push the button scrolling from 0-9, when the number you want comes up hold the button in & then the next & the next until all are done & then ....you guessed it save it by holding the button in.Same process for exit too. This is your own personal code & does not affect the keys, they are already coded to your bike:)

Thanks T06, but bloody hell I reallly must be thick! I know how to follow the menus etc, but what's the code for? Do I have to enter the code every time I start the bike? I don't want to set it up if it means something like that. And if that's not the case, then I still don't understand what it's for if the keys are already coded to the bike.

No you don't have to put it in every time.In fact once you put it in you will stop seeing the reminder come up on the screen.I'm not the 100% on this but I think the codes for tampering & such things as in you are the one that can unlock the brain with your code & no-one else can hotwire it without the code:blah: :blah:

Thanks again T06, i guess it's just a bit of bling like the suspension settings and tyre pressure settings, I mean what's with that?

....:WTF: I've got no idea apart from a fifteen year old on summer holidays came up with that one.& before the anal replies start I realise that maybe those are the setting but nothing can be done about them from the ECU & if you need to be told that then you shouldn't be riding this bike.;) ;)P.S. No it's not bling, it's your anti- theft code.It is actually a silent alarm, as in you have the code & everyone else is f_cked without it,so don't forget it ok.

Ooops - think I might have already, when would I need to use it?
Does the shop need the code to do a remap?

....but my guess is it can be overidden by a factory code.Something tells me you are about to find out & when you do let us know please.

So what do I need it for? To reset the clock and the tyre pressure / sus info? Can't for the life of me see what other use it has. Or am I still missing something? I feel like I've gone brain dead over this.

:funnypost :funnypost So it's not just me.
But I'm really in the shit because I'm planning a track day in a couple of weeks, and I'm worried now because I can't remember the code and I've got to drop the tyre pressures, but I can't change the settings on the instruments. I wonder if I can still ride it without changing the settings? Will it effect the handling because the bike's set at one pressure but the tyres are different? OH and I just remembered I raised the forks a few more rings and didn't change the suspension setting either. It'll probably handle like a bucket of shit now!   Maybe I should give Aprilia a ring about this? Any bets on what they'd say?
