Any of my Falco brethren out there ever attended or plan to attend the Honda Hoot? Like, maybe this year? I'm very interested in this. You previous attendees have any advice?

I have been! I liked the demo rides! I almost bought a bimmer because of it.... Lots of vendors and stuff, pretty fun to walk around and look at everything, plus the couple of times I have been, there was some great riding to do around the rally. I wouldnt do more than a couple days though..... YMMV

As a Knoxville native, I have to say there are tons of good roads there. The closer you get to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, the more traffic you will encounter. If you are interested, I'll do a write up of off the beaten path country roads you can take after you get tired of seeing chrome and hearing POTATO-POTATO-POTATO........
Better yet, IM 'stoneyflylama' and ask him about some good roads. He lives East of Knoxville and has wreaked havoc on those roads for years now. I never had a bike until I moved to ATL, so he would be a better source than me.

I am from there, have been to the hoot and will be going again this year.
It would kinda neat to have an Aprilia gathering at the Hoot.
Wanna meet up?

Yes, I would. Not defintely going yet, but there is a strong possibility. Would you be riding there from Tx? That would be a haul.

i've kind of wondered what it was like......after all, you meet the nicest people on a Honda.
seriously, i thought it would be a neat place to be what with all of the bikes.
the problem is: first weekend in juse is americade, second weekend is loudon (i think), and then the hoot.
you'd need a cast iron ass to cover it all on a bike.

fp- I should have my plastic back when I get back in town around the 16th. The estimate was right around $550. Maybe when I get back we can meet up and you can see the repairs. (I hope you won't be able to see them!!)

Sounds good to me. Have you seen the pics of mine I posted today in the "Let the Repairs Begin" thread?
$550? Wow, sounds steep. Better be perfect.

yeah i saw the grusome pics. I don't know what pic I saw before but the deep scratch in the upper fairing looked very similar to mine ( I actully had two on the upper.) I didn't think 550 sounded that bad but then again I'm not paying for it. BTW thanks again for the info on the ducshop. They quoted me exactly half price of moto britalia for a valve adjustment. And that expense is coming out of my pocket.

Agreed. Even though I hate to admit it, but I absolutely melt when she says "Ducati". Aussies have the best accent IMHO.

I now have accommodations booked for the "Hoot". I'll be going up on Friday with Fun Dog, (A Fut Rider), NWall00, and a buddy with a 900SS. We plan on doing the Hoot on Friday, spend the night in Sevierville, TN, and then spend Saturday working our way through western NC to Cashiers and then south through Highlands, down to Warwoman road, (in our own Squirrel's balliwick), and then back home. It will also make my first trip down the "Dragon" since my little unfortunate incident the last time I was there.
This will be a warm-up to MITM for me.........................I can't wait!!!!!

The Hoot? or The Dragon? The Hoot is in Knoxville which is about three hours away by Interstate, but will be close to four I think on the route we'll be taking.
Deal's Gap is only a couple of hours away.

FP- some suggestions for your trip, depending on how much time you have. You could pick up the Blue Ridge pky. in the park in Cherokee and take it to 215 south(killer road, miles of curves),it ends at 64, go west to Highlands and take 28 south from Highlands to Warwoman- go east to Clayton, take 76 west to 197 around Lake Burton, go right on 356 to Helen to 348(richard b. pky),go left, go left, pick up 180 to TWO for lunch. From there you should be able to find your way home. These are all lightly traveled two lanes with good pavement and only rare patrols. If you need more info let me know! Fly N.Ga.

Yeah, we're already planning on coming back that way. I've wanted to ride down from Highlands and on Warwoman for a long time. Thanks Squirrel!

Hey Hey Hey!!! Speak of the devil and Lucifer walks in!:kidding:
I'll have to look at a map and figger out exactly what and where 215 is and I will DEFINITELY give you a call. I still have your number in my cell phone I do believe. Is 215 the road down from Cashiers and Highlands?
There should be another Falco, a Futura and a Duc 900SS along with me.
You and UF need to get your asses back on this forum pronto!!:soap:
You both are missed................at least by me that is.

I've been working a lot of long hours, but about to wrap things up. Had a huge problem (about $25M worth) that I had to solve. UF is selling 'Onders part time and I haven't seen him in months either.
215 runs from up around Waynesville off the BRP down to 64 at Rosman. I'd come up 178. 64 is not all that much fun and sort of well traveled, but it connects a whole lot of good roads up and down the mountain.
BTW, if you get near Waynesville go by Maggie Valley and stop in the "Wheels Through Time" if you've never been. You'll need at least 2 hours-another hour more if you meet the owner. He's a hoot and a half.
