Australian Aprilia importers, John Sample Automotive, are delighted to announce a new direction in the expansion of the Aprilia name with the creation of Team Magee Aprilia Racing to contest the 2006 Australian Supermoto Championships.

It is a momentous occasion for JSA, Aprilia and Kevin Magee. After an illustrious career as one of the world’s top riders during the ‘80s and ‘90s including two victories in the prestigious Suzuka 8 hour, Kevin Magee is making the natural progression to team manager.

Jim Caruso, manager of Aprilia’s Motorsport Division is excited with this latest development. “We at John Sample Automotive are delighted to commence this relationship with Kevin Magee and it marks a historic development of Aprilia in Australian competition”.

“This latest development will compliment the release of Aprilia’s Offroad range of motorcycles that was such a huge attraction at the Sydney Motorcycle Show late last year”.

“We feel this will be of further benefit to expanding the Aprilia name in Australia”.

As more people learn of the passion and commitment of Aprilia it can only help expand the name of motorcycling and the Aprilia brand.”

Further details of rider line-up and machinery will be available in the coming weeks.

Just over 1sec. off the factory KTM teams times at Oran Pk. on a std. roadbike. The only thing missing was lights at each end.

Should be good with some parts and tuning on it. A 550 SXV is on the way via air as well.

Cant really say yet, contracts etc. to be finalised but they both have a no.1 plate from their respective classes last year;)

Only one will be able to wear the no.1 this year though.

Now i'll definitely be including one of the races on our road trip up to Sydney from Melb.

Why is there no racing in Melbourne if it's a National Championship? :WTF:

from mcnews
"Finally, Jake Magee (SXV449) will partner McFarlane in the Magee Aprilia Racing Team collaboration, with the whole shebang managed by Jake’s father – road racing legend Kevin.

The duo will be busy in both the S2 and S1 classes aboard the all-new, twin-cylinder Aprilia, which also comes in 549cc guise."

The newly established Magee Aprillia was on show with rider Jake Magee proudly displaying his new SXV449 which the team has just received. Unfortunately due to timing of the bikes arriving and the 1st round looming the team will not be able to race Eastern Creek this weekend, but will be trackside to show their support of the championship.

“The bike is strong from the factory but we have run out of time in preparing and receiving parts, we want to be race ready. We will be ready for round 2.” stated team manager Kevin Magee.
