The latest AMCN has a full test of the 06.

Highlights:

More Hp (133ps) and Torque (10,4 kg-m) despite meeting Euro 3 regs.

New camshafts, valve springs, conrods and ported cylinder heads.

Dry weight 185kg (weighed without a battery)

More aggressive rising position via taller tank (still 18 lt) for more leg room pegs set back, lower bar risers and a lower set height (15mm lower).

Options include OZ wheels, akro slip on (ECU already stored) and Ohlins.

Interestingly he quotes Aprilia as saying they are targeting a different market than the ST and Super Duke, apparentky they are after the "more mature" streetfighter market (with that paint scheme are they fuckin kidding???).

ANyway, the overall impression is very positive and he stated that it wipes the floor with a S4R monster in every department.

No real criticisms other than to say the stock suspension setup is firmer than previous models (wtf!!)

To quote AC " you have very possibly the ultimate real world sports twin for everyday riding".

Will be interesting to compare performance to the newest S4 Monster with 999 Test. motor. Can see pictures of this new version at Ducati web sites. Every reviewI have read featuring the 999 says it is the strongest twin ever? Expensive at $13.5K but has full Ohlins.

TYPICAL MONSTER PLUMBING BUT SURE LIKE THE WAY A MONSTER SITS. THE 999 IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE SOMETHING LIKE 136 HP? SHOULD RUN BOUT LIKE A TUONO I WOULD SUSPECT.

I THINK THIS IS A CONCEPT BIKE THAT THE ACTUAL PRODUCTION VERSION WAS ORIGINALLY BASED UPON. MORE ALONG THE LINES OF THE RSV-TUONO CONCEPT. KINDA LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE MONSTER PRODUCT LOOK. ALL THESE DUCKS NEED A BELLY FAIRING TO COVER UP THE UGLY STUFF.

Aprilia is always a better bike , Better motor , more reliable, less maintenance to service.
Ducatis frame looks like scafolding on a building site plus it looks ugly.
But thats what the Ducati wankers want.
Your paying for the name with a Duke but the APRILIA is always a better investment and value for money bike in what they give you.
