My track rs50's gas cap is locked and i'm trying to figure out how to remove it. obviously i tried removing the outer 5 allen bolts, but can also see what appears to be 5 inner bolts below the cap portion. Can someone provide me with a photo/diagram of the gas tank with the outer locking cap removed, and perhaps verify that the inner bolts are all that is holding the entire assembly to the tank.

TIA :peace:

the inners are holding the tank to the shell outside, the outerbolts(ones u can see on the top) are just holding a ring in place, but the ring have to be removed before you can take the inners out...

Would someone check this for me. Take out your outer bolts, remove your gas cap, take out the inner bolts, put gas cap back in and lock it. See if you can remove the entire assembly with the gas cap locked. I dont want to drill through my cap 5 times, remove the inner bolts and find out the lock still holds the assembly to the tank.

Perhaps someone who found my brake change and bleeding FAQ useful can return the favor :peace:

For anyone who ever needs to know to remove the gas cap without a key, first remove the outer 5 bolts and the metal ring. Then you can lift the gas cap up a little and use a 4mm ball-end allen key to remove the 6 interior bolts. 2 more screws at the back of the tank near the rear mount and the shell/ cap and tank can be pulled apart even if the cap is locked.
