somebody needs to build a V-6......
same width as a triple, and same length as a twin.....

Right ...but with 250hp, 6 carbs, 48 valves, weight near that of an FJ1300 and being built by former FIM GP Racer with best of modern chassis parts ........it should be fun!!!

Why has no one went this route?
With Suzuki coming out with an all new inline 6 there might be an incentive to try another 6.....your V6 http://tokyo2005.suzuki.co.jp/motor/EN/cm/index.html
Didnt Laverda build a V6 endurance racer with the motor mounted like the Guzzi?
Has there ever been a V6 mounted the other way?

now that sounds like a hive of pissed off bee's...
i think its cool that alternative engine designs/displacements are coming around again... ie more V4's for racing that will hopefully hit street form, triumph's new middle weight triple, suzy's I6, hopefully more aprilia non-liter-sized Vtwins...

LOL! Didn't Honda give up on the CBX for a reason?!? :cathat:

Seems to me like a import Boss Hoss ,or is it Boss Hog .
Well regardless ,kind of like answering a question nobodies asking .
Why not build a real import Boss H and use a Fararri or Lambo V/12
or a Bugatti quad turbo W/12 and compete with the Tomahawk !!!
But check out that Zuk GSR 400 naked bike ,they really should bring that over here ! Something high tech for starters to be proud to be seen on .
A lot nicer and would be undeniably better quality than a Blast .
and I'm sure much more of a blast to ride !!!!!!!
Or Aprilia can just build a 450 Tuono with a low seat hight ?
who's with meeeeeeeee !!!!!!

One reason Honda gave up on the CBX 6 cylinder is because they could not figure out how to make it look and perform like this!!!!
The CBX motor is the basis for some of the most amazing specials today....not too shabby for a 25 year old bike/motor

Here's your CBX Turbo. 175-200hp CBX turbo street versions are common so I posted this photo for you instead. Next to last non Aprilia pix....I promise
Last photo to follow in next post is of Supercharged Spondon CBX built by a former club level racer here in Pennsylvania

Just of you now...... Supercharged Spondon CBX built by a former club level racer here in Pennsylvania that eats new bikes, Boss Hogs and about anything else for breakfast. Wonderful balance of power and handling.....tires are wore right out to the edges ofcourse.

Hope most of you consider it for just what it is..........a small, yet I hope for you, an interesting departure from our Aprilias
Thx for your patience

One reason Honda gave up on the CBX 6 cylinder is because they could not figure out how to make it look and perform like this!!!!Frankly, and I'm not at all a vintage bike fan, I like the looks the old CBX far better than this monstrosity! :cathat:
Of course it would perform better; at least I hope it would. They should've learned a lot since then. :worship:

You took my slag far too seriously!!!
BTW, I assembled CBXes for delivery to four Atlanta dealers during the summer of my 15th year! The huge rubber bands they used to hold things like the handlebars to the crate made for some pretty damn cool rubber band fights! :)

Hi Mike
Thanks for your comments.... just thought you might want to see what people are doing with the CBXs today......
Did you like any of the CBX Specials in the photos
I am sure everyone will be amazed I have CBX ......mine has an 1100f front and back and it handles pretty good. I have taken it to track days for a fun and because it was a no lose situation for me....I get passed on my CBX and thats what everyone expects....I pass people and its a milestone for everyone there that cant believe it.
You should have kept those CBX shipping crates and rubber bands....they would be worth alot of money now to collectors that value such things.
So much for the past....hope when things improve with Aprilia they have a National Rally and maybe we all can meet up there and no rubber band stings....I am too ole for that......haaaaaa
Later

Did you like any of the CBX Specials in the photos? The Spondon CBX was cool. I like bikes w/modern handling and suspension.
You should have kept those CBX shipping crates and rubber bands....they would be worth alot of money now to collectors that value such things.Would have cost me more to store them all that time! :)
So much for the past....hope when things improve with Aprilia they have a National Rally do you mention a rally as a coincidence, or because of this thread (http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=758372)?

That just HAS to be the same guy I used to see riding around La Jolla,ca. At the time, he was riding a bike he built using a diino ferrari engine. The last I heard, he was building one using a lamborgini muira V12. All of his bikes have the same home made aluminum bodywork. A familial resembelence in the look and fabrication that's easy to recognize.

You are right...it was Andreas on some of the bikes he has built over the years. The only thing more amazing than the bikes he builds is him...just a wonderful person and yes let's not forget how talented he is.
In the 60s he lived in South Africa and built a GP road racer and beat some of the world champions of the time.
The V12 CBX should be done in the near future and yes it looks bulky, but as I said before it has the best chassis components available today, weighs less than a FJ1300 and has 250hp so with his riding and building talents I fully expect it to handle and gooooo
How lucky it would be for any of us to just meet him...though I have talked to him on the phone often that is really not the same .....so if you see one of his bikes along stopped for gas or at an eating place .....stop by and talk to him and be rewarded with a memory of a lifetime of one of the most amazing motorcyclists and craftsman ever.
Thx for post
Mike

I talked to him at a gas station once, he was riding the Dino bike, and I stopped to admire it. You don't see one of those everyday, not even in La Jolla. One of my buddies knows him pretty well.

True
He does all of this himself at his house and without any formal engineering or machine shop or any other training.
Simply amazing
