Ok - who's in this weekend for the ride? malibu, the crest, somewhere different? So far the weather looks dry - let's hope it stays that way.

Got my tires but I am stuck in Riverside for 3 days. Don't look like I can get my tires ontime for Saturday's ride. If I get it done by Saturday, I can be in for Sunday's ride!

Keep me updated.

In case you guys wonder, after last week's solo ride (Oct. 15) up to Newcomb's and back, my tires went from bad to gone. Those shiny lines are steel braids coming through. I didn't know what the hell happened so I touched it and promptly put 2 holes in my fingers where the wires came out at an angle. It wasn't that bad before, was it? These MilleR's sure shred them tires when you come out hard on a corner.

Those should be valuable tires now considering all the time and effort put into turning street tires into slicks... So that tire honestly felt good still through the turns?

How many miles did you put on it?

Love to go, but doing some 'tardin at Grange'.

Do you know if Grange allows for street bikes? I would love to wring out my gix1k there. I saw some pics on their site for roadracing bikes but they don't have any info.

Joel, you want these tires? Let me know, I am going to the bike shop right now to get them swapped out.

The tires felt fine but I don't want it to burst on me. Bike tires are not like car tires that can go on the steel braids.

Nah,

I'm up here at Thnderhill having a great time, going fast and not looking over my shoulder wondering where the CHP is hiding :) :) :)

Last week I almost got taken out by a deer on my solo ride. One run out in front of me and made it across, then I see a big shape over my left shoulder and it was the 2nd one charging full steam across. I turn and power out to the right and look back and see the 2nd deer on the ground. Apparently, he fell while trying to avoid me. He was about 2 feet away at full charge when this happened. If he hit me, we both would be on the ground. Of course, he would get up and run off while I would be looking at shattered yellow bits all over the ground. Goddamn venison....

Sounds like they were trying to gang up on you! See what happens when you ride solo!

Very typical manuever for these marauding deer gangs in outlying areas. One runs in front of you to distract you while a second one sideswipes you while your attention is focused elsewhere. I have seen it in many 3rd world countries while on tour as well as in some of the more dangerous areas in SoCal. I already contacted the CHP gang unit to keep an eye out for increased deer gang activity in the area.

I wonder what the deer would think if they came upon a squid with a fur-covered bike.

Hopefully knock it over and mate with it.

I saw this deer today on the way up to Big Bear...mangled in the middle of the road...friggen nasty...was thinking - damn! You would be totally screwed hitting a deer on a bike...or a cage for that matter.
