I had an awesome track day today at Pocono East. I did it with NY Sportbike Club (http://www.nysportbikeclub.com). The were very few guys and I almost had the track to myself. I would recommend this club to anyone that want to enjoy relaxed atmosphere and plenty of track time. The owner/president of the club is a realy nice guy but he definitely needs support of the guys like me and you. If you have a chance to attend NYSBC track day do it you want be disappointed.
The day was going pretty good. with a few small mishaps and ended up not the best way for me. I am a beginner track rider and do make mistakes. 1st I went of the track on the exit from the Bus Stop (went to wide) and went into the grass for some brief site seeing . Then the second mistake almost ended my day. I went to fast into the turn at the end of a straightaway and went into the grass again. I guess I was going close to 80-90mph when I hit the grass. I kept it straight but got scared shitless. I am not sure if anyone now the terrain in that area. Huge dips and ruts with some small hills/ramps. I hit 2 ramps and was airborne twice almost went over the handlebars but still kept it going and brought it back in one piece. Wheh!!! Unfortunately I crashed on the last lap of the day when I missed turn one right past entrance to the track. :bangwall: I managed to slow down to about 15 mph and almost saved it but my front washed out and I hit the grass. :bangwall: Bent rear brake pedal and cracked race body work.
What would you recommend to patch up the body with. Its not to bad but definitely needs some patching up.

Sounds like you had a eventful day. I have heard good things about the club. THe spot where you went off at the back straight. I saw a guy do the same thing in front of me. He hit the ditch and was thrown in the air like a rag doll. Needless to say he got a nice flight on the Helicopter. That's a really bad spot to go off.
That left at the end of the back straight can be danerous.... the cement barrier sitting in the grass 'might' have a haybale in front of it, but it usually doesn't...
Glad you had a good time. :peace:

wow such an update....really sucks about the little mishap but glad you're ok and the bike is no big deal.
i actually ran wide at the turn at the end of the straight when an instructor went inside of me and kind of spooked me a bit so i just stood it up and went straight but def butt clenching.

Most people approach that left-hander too far to the left side or they simply turn in way too early... in both cases they run wide on the exit. And right after they miss their apex, it is easy to drop in behind them and as they shoot to the far right (outside) you can easily pass them on the left side of the exit.... a perfectly safe pass...
Another good area to pass is the decreasing radius turn onto the front straight... usually where the high-sides happen as the outside edge is a bit off camber.
A fun little track & close by!

Yeap, good description about the ragdoll. I am sure that anyone who was ever in any tipe of an accident know that things slow down in front of you and everything that goes in front of your eyes is like slow motion movie. I did went in the turn to fast and too early. Tried not to repeat the mistake again. But I am sure I would not be in to good of a shape if I would let it go. I am extremely lucky and happy that it worked out the way it was. My little fall at the end of the day almost messed up my upcoming Summit Point but I was able to straighten out my brake foot lever and only thing that is left is to patch up the body work. I am excited that I am going to Summit Point. Can someone let me know what I should be looking for at Summit Point?
Almost forgot to bragg. I actually drag my knee my tow shin protector and even my bike body with the extreme lean angles. I know dragging the body is not to good so I will be watching myself. I am using Michelin Powers and they are awesome
Thanks

Did Summit in May it's fast. The front straight is almost twice as long as the East course. Alot of fun alot elevation changes and few concrete patches. You to learn to trust the grip on the patches. Don't go on and off the concrete the bike can do some wierd stuff. If you go off at 10 you may end up in the woods. It's a 4th gear turn I was regulary seeing 92-94mph through there. You will be passed alot down the front straight. I had my Tuono and still trying to figure why I was getting passed every lap there.

On the East course I've found it best to stay 2ft of the right wall on the NASCAR straight before bangin in left at the turn cone. I picked that up from tailing the track coaches. It works charms. Actually the only time I didn't do that I knew I wouln't make it and wound up just shooting straight instead of trying to turn. Bottom line - always far wide before dropping for the apex.

Sorry to hear about the get-off, ugh.
Duramix (http://www.duramix.com) is simply the best stuff out there.
Here's some How-Tos (http://www.autobodysupply.net/duramix.htm)
or you could "do it right" with bondo! ha ha
