Just by using a normal laquer you'll achieve a gloss finish and then use good quality auto polish or mr sheen to get it mirror like
That's the thing though, I have a problem with laquers.
The last time I did it, even though it was a gloss laquer, I always ended up with a fine matt mist on the surface.
I just sprayed many thin layers of laquer, I went through 2 cans but I still had that fine powdered surface, not smooth and glossy.
I.e. If you hold the can 3 inches away and hold down the sprayer until the paint runs you'll get a nice glossy smooth finish, but if you do it properly using thin layers you never seem to get the glossy finish, just a matt powdery surface.
Any ideas?

I thought if you wanted the black to shine get a gloss black spray paint then it will shine.

Or you can leave it matte and polish with WD40
WD40 your meant to wipe off when dry I believe, or else it will be greasy.
??
And when you wipe it off it's just matt.
I think I'll spray matt laquer and forget the gloss as the standard factory model also has matt fairings.
