Did anyone go down to Bike week? I went for the first time. Had a pretty good time despite shitty weather at the beginning of the week.
That is until saturday morning. Sometime between 6am (when we finished loading them) and 6:40am our trailer with 5 bikes on it was stolen from right in front of our room!! Pricks must have been watching us load it up. We lost: 01 GSRX1000, 01 R6, CBR F3, 97 GSXR 750 and my 01Blue Mille with 860 mi on it.
I guess I sort of expected it, but thought we were going to to get out of there without losing anything.
Fortunately I didn't have the bike long enough to be really attached to it, or to have spent too much on it (aftermarket-wise; only had carbon fiber fenders and an RSV Titanium slip on)
ASSHOLES!!!!! They just got my '99 TL1000 R back in October!

Hey Aaron, my wife and I just returned from Orlando today (it's much quieter to stay at than Daytona). Man, that really sucks! Reminds me of a couple of years ago when a group of us went up to Montreal and had 5 bikes stolen out of the parking garage. French-Canadian cops didn't give a damn.

Micah / Ed:

(Repost from a month ago.)

Could you consider opening a Stolen Motorcycle category under General on the Discussion Page? A template could capture owner demographics, VIN, engine number, where it was stolen from, date, unusual / aftermarket identifying features, etc.

I would envision this solely as a repository location without thread content. The present small size of the Aprilia community makes stolen part sales conspicuous.

Would do my soul good to know that some of these scrotally challenged lads ended up as somebody's boy. ( ^ )

I've been thinking of adding it for awhile....
anyone have any ideas for a "Forum Name"

does "Stolen Aprilia Registry" sound right??

or would "Stolen Aprilia Information" be better??

Stolen Aprilia Registry sounds good to me.
My bike was a Blue 2001.
VIN: ZD4RPD0021S000201
MASS plate XK 89
It had:
*Carbon fiber Front and Rear Fenders
*Titanium EVO slip-on
*Evoluzione air filter and Plate Relocator
The relocator was attached to the bottom 2 bolts of
the taillight (rather than the single bolt in the middle)

It only had about 860 miles on it.

Aaron,

A success story to share.......

Just found out today a friend had his R6 stolen. His brother parked it in a shopping center parking lot for F I V E minutes with a disk lock. POOOOOOF...........

He began surfing e-Bay daily. BINGOOOOOOO........
A nice close up of his tank with a particular scratch highlighted showed up. His 1 of 1500 sets of wheels
in the U.S. appeared. The "seller" was located 30
miles away in Baltimore.

He worked through the police to get the e-Bay customer profile pulled. They got a search warrant issued and he escorted them to the location.
Well.well.WELLL ... what do we have heeeere?
His frame was still there. He put his key in the ignition
and turned it. He unlocked the disk lock.

About 10 bikes were broken down at the location. An interesting side note. There were about 25 sets of footpegs neatly cataloged. I quess footpegs are slow movers. Last he heard this gentleman's home and vehicles had been confiscated. Most of us like to use one knee puck at a time.
This gentleman will need two at a time in his next career position......

I wish you and your friends just as much luck.

Hi all,
No news so far. I don't really expect there will be. I saw that set of blue bodywork on ebay 10 mins ago, and my stomach got all wierd for a second. I'm pretty sure it's not mine though as I still have my seat hump and front fender. The pics show both as included.
My bike had the rear seat on it and CF fenders. Oh well. I guess I'll add my bike to the new stolen registry. Oh yeah, my email: ansigman@yahoo.com
Take care guys,
Aaron

Make sure you give all the details specific to your bike like the VIN and motor serial number. You should also say where all the identifying marks are.
