Anyone else here have major issues starting a Scarabeo in the cold? I just about sprained my ankle trying to kick it over this afternoon for like a half hour. It's really not that cold out, either. I was able to start my Razz scooter in much colder weather. The suckiest part is that lately, if it's cold around here, it's usually raining too.

In no particular order, on many occasions: I try electric start with no choke. I try electric start with choke. I try kick start with no choke. I try kick start with choke. I cuss at it while re-trying all of the above. Usually, if I cuss at it enough and kick it enough to hurt myself, it will eventually start. Usually. Eventually. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

It's got gas. It's got oil. No, I don't have a garage where I can store it so it's warmer. Anyone else have these issues? What do you do?

I have a 2000 SR50 (carb) that's stored in a warm garage. I find that after a while sitting the battery has a bit of a problem beginning to kick the engine and sometimes it flat out doesn't start. I've yet to look into the issue. Once this topic evolves it'll be a big help as I seemt o be having similar problems as you.

I kinda doubt my problem is related to the scooter sitting in storage. It's my only vehicle, so it's literally a daily rider.

Scooterwitch,

sounds like a spark plug problem to me, why don't you replace the plug with a new one and start it over again. that could do it.

BTW also check if there's current discharge from the ignition coil. if thre is then it could be that the fuel going to the carbs maybe blocked so better get the AF1 guys to fix 'er up.

I will take note of your suggestions. I only have about 30 more miles until my 4,500mi tune-up anyways. That should take me about half a day to get to. ;)

Interesting. After I started the topic, my scooter starts fine. It must have read about my frustration. Go figure.

My recently deceased SR also developped that problem with the 70cc kit. I went up one heat on the spark plug and it ran fine.
