Ok, i've got my PC3 finally out of its plastic box and went to install it yesterday, all was going well until I got to the bit where its states to locate the wires comming out of the TPS and clip onto the "yellow wire with brown tracer"......however mine doesnt have a yellow wire of any description :pissed: ....it does have a "brown" and a "brown with white tracer" and also "red and blue" wire but no yellow of any description. anybody know from fitting theres? I've emailed Dynojet support but think I might be in for a long wait...and the weather is finally breaking here and its time to play....

here's the (impresivley speedy) reply I got from Dynojet....
"The only way to confirm which wire to hook to is to use a mutimeter and read the voltage from each wire. You will have a ground, a constant 5v signal, and a variable signal from around .5v closed to 4.5v wide open. The variable voltage line is the one you need to hook to. Let us know if you have any problems. Thanks."
I havent got a multimeter so if anyone can advise from there own tuono I would appreciate it

It's the middle wire, always has been. This has been pointed out to Dynojet loads of times, they need to change the instructions.
It's the same wire for all the Aprilia 1000 engines.
I've since found out it's the middle wire on nearly all tps sensors including my car.

Thanks Dynoman for your help.

Thanks dynoman, really appreciate that
I'm a bit disapointed in Dynojet that they cant be bothered to change the instructions knowing they are wrong, these things arent cheap and its only a crappy photocopy they need to change.

Mmmm you cant beat photocopied instruction sheets when you've just spent Ģ250 on a piece of kit!
The PC3 itself looks well made tho :)

On a related note.........
One day while fiddiling around with headlight wires, I noticed their color codes did not match to the descriptions in the manual. I thought that was odd as well.

I installed my PC3 today and the wire to connect to at the TPS is the BROWN one,it is not yellow "straped" on my bike like itīs written in the intallation manual.I loaded the map m907-001 developed for the stock bike,it didnīt work well on my bike since I activated the second map on the stock eprom a few days ago by disconnectig the well-known blue-green wire on the ECU.
Didnīt have time enough to re-connect the wire to the ECU again and try, Iīll do the job tomorrow or saturday and hopefully itīll work

Forgive my ignorance but doesn't it make more sense to take it to your local dyno place and get a custom map? It's only a couple of hundred dollars and surely that given the cost of the bike, the powercommander, and all the bits and pieces this isn't too much considering the performance gain?

should be dynod' to be specific for that bike, and not just pulled off the web cuz it's for the same bike you own/ride.
that does NOT mean it will work the same for you as it did for them. there are so mant factors which make them different such as......your location on the PLANET 4 ONE. a pc3 don't do squat until it's tuned for the bike it's installed in

The reason Iīm playing around with the Pc3 is that the nearest PC dealer is far from my town and the main reason is that I like to do the things by myself and being wrong with the things you try is the best way to learn, :bangwall:
Learning is the biggest reward for me,sure if you want the best map for your bike you should put her on the Dyno with the dyno guy working on it but..... ;)

Yes a custom map is prefereable (as I mentioned in the first post) but getting it custom Dyno tuned place is not that simple i.e. arrange a day off work, find someone near you with the gear, wait 4 weeks to get a booking, and yet more expense etc etc ....
So for now a standard map will have to do until I get chance to go the custom route....and to be honest after finally fitting it this morning I'm pretty impressed with the one ive downloaded...flat spot almost gone (which is the main reason i got it)...
You do know there are also other things to spend money on as well as your bike! beer, girls, holidays .... yeah thats pretty much it :)

Kieron there's a place out near you in Ruddington that will dyno your bike, they do Aprilia's n Dukes apparently.

I finally installed th PCIII last friday with the map for the stock bike running on it.
Now the bike runs in a different way I expected...I mean itīs not faster than before but smoother, donīt get me wrong itīs not slower either just smooooother, the dip of torque between 5 and 7 k is smoother too but the bike hasnīt the kick at 7,5 k it had before, and the throttle response is not as rough as before over 7,5 k which is good when youīre taking fast bends where you have to gas it up and down often but the character of the v-twin engine has some how dissapear....donīt know yet what I prefer: the new rideability or the old fun-rough-take-care throttle response ;)

Yep mine feels a bit similar, although I think its because it has lessened the midrange dip so that now the top end deosn't feel quite as dramatic anymore ... still pulls like a train though...

Is yours a satndard one?I tried some enrichment in medium and high rpm with the PCII buttons but didnīt feel the torque dip got better with this....anyway now is less noticeable than before, have you tried somenting? if so what did you find out?

No I used map 907 504 as I have a K+N filter, and slip on pipe and that sounded like a suitable match.....If I get round to it will experiment more...
