View Full Version : tie downs ?
i'm going to purchase an enclosed trailer, and i am wondering if any one has used any type of sport chock or bike vise in addition to the usual tie downs. any advise is greatly appreciated. the more secure the bike the easier it is to relax.
thanx again !
I have 2 of these & they are outstanding:

John-
Knowing how secure you like your bike I would say that the Pingel is probably the best, although the Sport Chock is very secure too. The Sport Chock will give you more flexability as far as positioning bikes without having to drill a bunch of mounting holes. Less chance of nicking the rotors too.
Either way works great.
Don't ya' love this weather? It feels like I'm still in Seattle.

The Sport Chock is the best. When you roll the bike onto it, it cams together to grip the wheel. I have one that bolts down to my trailer but I can take it off for the garage at the track.
As far as tie downs go, I still like the ratching ones. They don't slip like the cam ones do. Just make sure you don't crank right down on them. Remember to duct tape the hooks so they don't pop off if you hit a bump.
With the Sport Chock you can loosen the tie downs when you're parked. This takes the strain off the forks.

Well well, you might have to lead me around on the mille on the 25th. It'll be my first time out on it, so I could use the help.
