this has been gone over before. i had one fitted on my old rs50. i had it intstalled under the fairing above the back wheel, with a lil' switch near to where the fuel tap thingy is. looked pretty cool (maybe a bit too biker boyz :rollin: ) wasn't too expensive either

Anything like this for a 94? Too lazy for engine work since I'll probably be selling my rs50 soon for either a 125 or 250 (I live in NY but I have the bikes in my summer house in italy)

I have a blue neon underneath my bike, i bought it from maplin for £20, you can buy them from places like halfords.
The are easy to wire up. What you need to do is connect the positive wire from the neon tube to the positive terminal on the battery (make sure there is a fuse along the wire somwhere just in case it shorts), then connect the negative wire from the neon tube to one terminal on a switch, i have a small switch next to the temp gauge, then connect another wire from the other terminal on the switch to either the negative terminal on the batt or to a bolt in the bike frame ( you can do this because the bike has a negative earth).

The neon wire and led light's you can by are nowhere near as good as neon tubes. The neon tubes give a really good strong glow, the led's are crap and the neon wire is good for picking out detail, but not for giving a glow.

I have cable tied my 12inch neon underneath my bike, but it is actualy inside the fairing so the actual tube cannot be seen. I have it near the exhaust and have use cable ties to tie it to the frame. You may think that the cable ties wouldn't hold it but i have had it on for about two weeks and it hasn't come off, and i do endo's everywhere.

hey mate wat have u done for wiring cus im guna fit the same type of neons to my rs125, where did u get um from too??

spanairRS250
08-01-2003, 04:18 PM
halfords sells them cheap and they got quite a big variety, but their is some good places out there with more stuff, just put it onto the battery, or get a switch an connect the switch to the battery and thats it, its really simple really.

GPracer123

wat about a fuse or summing?

dont i need one incase it blows?

spanairRS250
08-01-2003, 04:34 PM
Well when I had the 125, I had flashing blue lights in the front, and all I did was connect it to the battery, the lights blew off and nothing happen, all I did was just take em off, not im gonna add the bulbs of the flash of the cameras, now thats going to be bright.

I dont think you need a fuse mate, as is connected to the battery, but im no electrician so I dont know some 1 probaly will do.

98shaikh

Wire it up like this.

98shaikh
08-02-2003, 03:50 PM
You should put a fuse in because if it shorts it will either melt your wires or damage your battery. Neon;s normally come with the wires and fuse holders etc.

just wonderin if u had any problems with it rubbin on either ur chain or ur exhaust?
also where have u mounted the switch? and could u post a pict please?

thanks snOOpy

98shaikh
08-03-2003, 01:21 PM
No i have had no problems with it rubbing on anything. I thought it might fall of because i have just used cable ties but it hasn't yet and i do wheelies and endos everywhere.

I have used a tiny microphone switch. (the on/off switches on the microphones) and have mounted it to the right and behind the temp gauge. it is difficult to see but there is a little bracket that i have cable tied it to. I will try to get pics soon.

nice one, cheers for the diagram, how much did u spend on getting that all set up and on?

Thanks mate. Some people say that neons on a bike look crap, but if they are done niceley i think they look wicked.

The only cost in putting on the neon was 20 quid for the neon. It came with all the wires and fuse, and cable ties and i took the switch out of an old broken mic. U could jus buy a switch for about 20p or something like that.

98shaikh
08-05-2003, 11:44 AM
This is where i have mounted the switch. It is on the right hand side of the bike just behind the temp gauge.

GPracer123
08-05-2003, 03:38 PM
ooh rite, cool, nice set up, i will probably mount the switch on the lip part of the front fairing

Sound about rite? im getting my neons in two weeks, and hopefully have them fitted soon after, how long it take u to fit them?

Lloyd

98shaikh
08-05-2003, 04:09 PM
It took me about half an hour to fit mine. It didn't take me that long because i didn't have to screw anything in it was just cable ties.

Post pics once you have done yours, i want to see what it looks like.

Im a bit of a novice on this, so thanx for all your help.

Lloyd

98shaikh

No this wont affect it at all just make sure you dont mess arround with the alarm wires (dont cut them or anything like that).
