I recently got my helmet stolen and in the market for a new one. (I had it locked to my bike and it was at my law school parking lot!) Although I would like to know specific models of helmets people use, I am limited with the current posting options. Feel free to specify what model you wear with pro and cons. I used to have a Matt Black Shoei TZ-1. Thought it was good helmet for the price I paid at $199.
i wear an official aprilia one cos it matches the colours of my (ex) bike. i don't know what make it is but it fits well and looks good:D

this topic seems familiar but here goes anyway
i wear a yellow hjc helmet. it used to match the colors on my 2000 rs50 perfectly. but now i look a bit rediculous wearing this helmet on a metalic red bike.:rollin:

AXO RR2, it's old but does the job but it has lost the air vents up top and the breath guard too

I currently have a Suomy which replaced a brand new Arai that I shattered in a crash. If i had it to do over again I would have gotten another Arai. For street and track the best Arai is the RX7RR series....pricey but well vented and very small/light.

I have an Arai. I am not sure what model it is. It is called the"re-entry". It was very expensive, $525. Lots of vents, pretty light, but it is rather noisy. I got to see an Arai that went head first into a guard rail. The helmet held up real well. The person walked away from the accident. That made me a believer.
I had this X-speed helmet before. The dealer that I deal with told me that it was complete garbage and told me they would give me 20% off an Arai if I smash my X-speed up on the ground outside. So I went out there and tried to simulate a crash senerio and toss it on the ground. The top part of the helmet cracked. I was shocked. That helmet was even snell aproved. Needless to say I bought that Arai immediately.
Make sure you get fitted for your helmet.

I have the Bieffe GP-R model. Its the Max Biaggi replica. The colors are sweet and it has a lion head on both sides of it.

I use the Arai that Micah describes. Best helmet I've ever owned.

Around town I wear a Bell Frankie Chilli rep. Crap fit. I don't have a Bell shaped head. But I like the cat that's on it. On the track and long rides a Shoei TZ-1 Cyclone. For a big bike track day a Shoei RF-900 Blade is waiting.

I replaced my Shoie with an Arai. I crashed and totaled my Shoie in a 90MPH high side. The Shoie (X- was pricey but worked perfect. The first thing to impact the ground was my head. I was air lifted to the hospital and spent two days in there. Anyway, the Shoie did its job great! I had a concussion, broken bones, etc but the helmet saved me life.
I bought an Arai this time mainly to try something different. I have always had Shoies. The Aria fits better and I like it a lot. I would never buy anything that was not top of the line. I dont mind spending $700-800 for a top quality helemt.
You can live without arms and legs but not without a brain.

Could anyone tell me how much I could pick a cheap helmet up for in the uk? Not anything fancy, Jst a plain cheap helmet. Thanks
I ride with a silver f1 Arai with a troy lee fin (makes me look like a fish). Funny thing is Arai means Ouch in my language.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

Lazer Revolution. A bit noisy, comfortable, built-in dark visor (like a military pilot glare shield), flip front, does not mist up at all- amazing!

Damn,
That Lazer helmet looks awesome. Best looking flip up lid I've seen yet. I really like the idea of the integrated pull-down tinted visor too.
Anyone know how good these are and how much they cost in the US.
Kind of looks like Darth Vador :rollin:
Nevermind, just answered my own question. First, they don't sell that model in the US. And second, they aren't SNELL certified. Oh well.

I am currently waiting for the new FF4 to be released from OGK.
They are a great helmet comfort \ safety wise (tested in a 70mph highside round the melborne loop at donnington. Landed on my head, helmet destroyed head in tact unlike both arms which I smashed?!?!
But they have a tendency to fall apart (visor clips fell off, air vents too)
If i were to spend the money on a new lid I would get an ARAI

I dont wear a helmet on my moped (a.k.a. rs50)! No riding gear either. Shorts and flip flops do just fine for me.

wake slasher you should wear at least a helmet, and some protective clothing, you are basically going naked and in case of an accident you wont have as much chance as you would with the gear. I wear alpinestar boots, leather aprilia racing jacket, leather gloves (alpinetars) obiously the helmet aslo which is illegal to ride without here and i wear biking trousers buying some leather trousers soon.

I use an HJC helmet. They do the job.

I was just kidding. I ALWAYS wear a helmet. It is a crappy KBC but it would do the job if I ever went down. Unfortunately it is too hot in Florida to wear full riding gear. All I can wear in the heat is a mesh Joe Rocket Ballistic riding jacket.

wakeslasher if u wernt kiddin u wudnt have bin alone - i jus got back from corfu and NO1 on corfu wears a helmet or any gear. u think that like that they'd ride a bit safer but its the opposite - the ppl on bikes ride like f*ckin maniacs
minimum protection 4 me is helmet an armour jacket on ne bike, but most o time helmet, jacket, trousers, boots, gloves.
