Hi guy i just bought a lovely looking 1996 aprilia rs125 and being nearly 7 year old its in brilliant nick except for one thing!
so i was riding it home and it basically cut out i thought b@stard i bought a nail! To my relief i remember the guy said it only had a little petrol so i turned on the reserve and off we went again.

so anyway i got it home (eighteen miles) it purred all the no problem and next day with more petrol in took it out for a spin and sure enough it cut out again i thought it cant be the petrol because i put some in, but i switched it reserve anyway and bobs your uncle off we went again.

So i come to a couple of conclusions

1. Is the main fuel pipe blocked?
2. It been derestricted so does the carb needed to be tuned up?
3. Blockage in carb?
4.Choke could be set wrong?

Anyways can anyone think of anything else it could be i would love to hear any comments

P.S. Its not overheating and the bike is in such lovely condition with real low milege i just don't get it.

I have 1996 chesterfield version, and it doesnt have reserve oil, which you can only turn the tap to on or off, there is no reserve! only the new version of rs had reserve tap bcos its not equipted with petrol warning light.so if your bike had this petrol warning light,so you dont have the reserve tap, which means youre actually turn the tap to OFF!. so try to turn it ON.good luck
cheers!
