well, i found out that riding on a track is different than drag racing. the load caused by turning and going up hill upset the engine with the power valves locked open. it just wouldn't pull unless it was over 11k rpm. so i got back in the pits and reconfigured the PVs back to stock and all was well after that.

so... you cant lock open the PVs.
