Well, got T-boned by a car yesterday directly into my left front tire/forks.
Ended up being thrusted through the air (held onto the bars tho) and landed next to it in a heap, did my best to protect it but.........shit.
So, got some horrible skuffs to the left fairing, bend front forks, and a crack in the front fairing (not noticable)
Have no idea whats gona happen with my forks, they could be repairable, if not, a new set will have to be aquired (hope not)
Im ok, just damaged my left leg tendons, back and arms. Nothing broken, so its all good.
Any ideas of costs of a new set of front forks?? Will have the bike taken to a dealer so assess the damaged soon.
Ride Safe!

probably coz everyone sues everyone these days....getting like the states. ppl are afraid that if they try & help, for some reason if they move ya & paralise you, that they'll be held responsible.
or ppl just dont give 2shits about bikers  ....but then what do you expect:rolleyes: .
same thing happened to my sister & the twat who knocked her off didn't even help her ....just fucking stood there:bond:
this is exactly why bikers stick together & always try and help.
coz no one else will.

Cheshire Bike Salvage (http://www.cheshiremotorcyclesalvage.com/acatalog/) have a few sets of Rs125 forks in for under £100 so may be worth getting in touch with.
Sorry to hear about your accident too, and glad you're ok. It would be worth it going through insurance even if it takes a few months as you'll get a nice cheque when you're not expecting it for some goodies for your bike/yourself unless there's a reason you can't...

If it was there fault its classed as a non fault accident so you dont loose your NCB as such. I would claim, and have all the bodywork repaired etc.

I know Simon, Its fuking rediculous, sorry mate :( I feel like shit too.
I was the one who pulled out and didnt see her, She had right of way so theres not alot I can do.
it was an extremly fucked up cross roads, and im just speachless tbh. Iv fuked up big time.
The left fairing is scuffed, and some minor cracks to the front faring.
it was mainly the front wheel that took the brunt of it hence the twisting to the forks. Its a real fuking shame and Im very upset about the bike tbh.
Well, having it sorted by a aprilia dealer, and I have to sell the bike when I pass my car test (end of july) - parents just want me to have a car.
Things change over time, so you never know, I may keep it.
Cheers for the replys mate,
take it easy,

LOL .... Rossi lives in London m8.
sorry to hear about everyone's misfortune & i don't want to sound harsh or anything but in these two cases, it was rider error & inexperience.
not other road users.
it's just one of those things guys, if you ride a bike, you will come off. it's not fun, but still part and parcel of the whole deal.
all you can do is learn from them & try to avoid the big ones.
hope your back on the road soon guys.

this is pretty much what happened to me,
i pulled out at the same time as a guy leaving mcdonalds, and we met on the roundabout.....hit front wheel forks and sent me 20 yards up the road over his bonnet (2 years ago now)
you should NEVER hold on to protect your bike, leave it (let go) as soon as u know the shits hit the fan....u wont get tangled up then!!
i luckily had a bloke stop and say it was the car drivers fault....
without him, it would have cost me £1638 not the insurance...
oh and plus the £1400 damage to the car...
claim on it m8, get a dodgy quote and keep some of the money..
glad your sort of ok, hope the leg heals soon

Only my Bottom Yoke was bent (all checked and sorted by Aprilia dealer)

Just have a few marks to the left fairing, apart from that the bikes back in "showroom" condtion.
Could have been alot worse.

Has the bike being on a jig to see if it is straight, i know its common for the yokes to bend by the attatching mount, but not the yoke itself to twist / bend.

I would be inclined to agree with you SP.
however as long As i get what I need, it dont really matter?
Probably a bad thing to say, but we dunno for sure if stuff is stolen probably 40% of ebay items are stolen, just go with the flow lol.

Well, Im trusting them to have checked it all. There a Official Aprilia Dealer. They said that when they took the front end apart, it all just strigtend out again. They said all I needed was new bottom yokes that I got from ebay and it was all sorted.

Alot of stuff on ebay has got to be dodgey, like those people who break "like new" 2003 bikes, i mean the ones who break down the whole bike for no reason :D

this is why there are soooo many rs125's in bits, at salvage yards, breakers etc...
people hit 16 and 17 and want the fastest bike they can legally have at that age. they rush through their cbt without really listening and want to jump straight on the bike and try to be a racer. sad, but in most cases its true.

05-31-2004, 12:33 PM
Very True there repsol.
I dnt think you can stop it happening though. the only way to make a 16/17 year old respect an RS is by them actually experiencing a crash due to speed and inexperience. I know cos its how iv learned

sorry but buying bits off a broken bike thats been stolen on ebay does affect us all in a way..ur giving bike theives money to steal bikes...so as long as people buy stuff off em then theyre gonna carry on stealing bikes..hope none of u lot complain if ya bikes are nicked.as indirectly u have just said u wouldnt care.
Craig

Its giving them the incentive to steal more and more.

lol dont start again,
I have been riding Motocross bikes for a 2 years, and my Aprilia MX 50 supermoto for 1 year. Now into my second year of riding a road bike.
I had stoped, and the car took my front tyre out (stupid fuking bitch)
Shit happens, this was so fucking rediculous, I hit myself everytime I think about it. Accidents happen to us all. You learn from it, and move on.
You do get alot of "twats" who do want to fastest bike or whatever, But Im not one of those. Iv got my A2 Practical on Thursday, and soon I will be working for the local Test center to help fellow bikers do their CBT, A2 tests.

bit contradicting there m8 cos you just said you stopped and the car took out your front tyre:confused:
riding motocross is all well and good and makes you a better rider, as i have done motocross in the past, but there is no substitute for road sense and predicting the unexpected.
i see loads and loads of young lads on scooters etc racing along round my area.........sure they are good riders, you should see them deck it into the corners, but they have no road sense and are not using the most important thing on a bike.......observations.

handling the bike is one thing knowing what is happenign on the road is another too amny people cant judge road conditions they either dont compensate or over compensate!! thous causing too many accidents
so i agree with repsol

spot on m8. every advanced corse, in a car or on a bike is centered around observation.
alot of the time going fast is about using your head more than the throttle and you'll find that reading the road correctly can not only make you faster & smoother, but alot safer too.
believe me, i've tryed the thrash it everywhere method before i had as much seat time as i do now & it's just slow (little bit fun, but not as rewarding as when you do a smooth, safe & fast ride & everything just flows)
all i would tell anyone who hasn't had the on road time is:
Listen to that little voice in the back of your head & if you have any doubt about the manuver your going to make, then DONT do it!
just wait a second.
this has saved me from being roadkill on the bike & in the car more times than i'd like to remember over the past 6 years.
also, if you can afford it at some point in your life, invest some cash doing an advanced corse on the road & the same on a racetrack. it's money well spent.
