Hello everybody. Have recently sold my Mille & bought a lovely Tuoldo which im absolutely thrilled with. Its such a blast to Ride & on a trip up the north werst coast of Scotland last weekend it has left me smiling all week.
Ive been offered a set of the older style Mille Ohlins Forks (51mm-56mm) & was wondering if they will fit my 2003 Tuono Fighter?
Am i correct in saying i'd need to change the top Yoke but not the bottom?
Also will the standard Brembo front wheel still fit or would i need new spacers?
Many Thanks,
Jamie.

They will fit. The forks should come with the bottom triple clamp (you gotta have that part) and you will need to make (or have made) a small 2mm spacer for the stock Tuono upper triple clamp. The Ohlins are 2mm smaller in diameter than the shoawa forks at the top where they slide into the upper clamp. Simple sheet aluminum will do. The Ohlins forks will also accept the stock Tuono wheel without spacers or other modifications.

You will need to change the bottom yoke to a 56 mm unit, and either shim the top yoke and clipons or replace them with 51mm units. Showa forks on 2002-2005 Tuonos are 53mm top at the top and bottom mounting areas. There is not enough material in the 53mm bottom yoke to safely bore it out to accept the 56mm Ohlins forks diameter at the lower mounting area. At the top yoke you can use a 1mm thick Aluminum shim to fit the 51mm Ohlins tops to the 53mm Showa top yoke and clipons.

Looks like the OP has disappeared for some reason.

Hey Guys thanks for the quick replys

Somehow I didnt think it wouldnt be quite as easy as a straight swap!!

So its the bottom triple clamp i'd need, will check Fleabay & see whats available?!

Great idea with the strip of Ali at the top, i can get some from a local company i buy Cill Flashings from.

If i can get a triple clamp cheap enough, & buy the Forks i'll post up some Pics when its all together.

Thanks again.

Hi Guys, wrote out an answer earlier but site wouldnt post it up until admin has checked it?????!!!!! Wierd.

So as i said earlier thankyou both for your quick replys. After reading your advice ive checked a famous auction site for triple clamps & they're mega expensive, so gonna put the ohlins project on hold for a while, unless i can find some cheaper ones.

Will let you know & post up some pics if i can sort it out.

Thanks again.

yeah dont be surprised if you gota pay about 80-120 quid for the yokes alone. i think as a package i managed to get for £300 after being very lucky but then had to spend money getting the forks sorted out. worth it in the end though.

Check out the parts for sale section and put up a WTB posting for a GenI 56mm lower triple clamp. Don't try to mix and match upper and lowers from first and second Gen Bikes, they have different offsets and they don't line up. I was able to find a first Gen 56mm lower and 51mm Mille upper (no provision for risers) for under $200. For your application It would probably be easier and cheaper to just buy a lower and to shim your current upper and keep your handlebars. You can use a 56mm lower from a 00-03 Mille or 02-05 Tuono.

I have a full Ohlins front end with radial calipers for sale. It's for the Tuoldo. It won't exactly be cheap though. Also have the radial OZ wheels.
