HI Danny... R U trying again huh?? :) :) :)

25th May.. that sounds a better biking time of the year.
Is this an area you use regularly then? I can`t say I know it by name.... any big towns i can use to guide me on a map ;)

I notice there have been 30 odd views so far but no takers yet ... they must all be across the pond. ;) :)

I reckon from the last time it was discussed there are about 8 or 9 of us in the UK and as far as I can see , you were the only one to respond from the EU.... my thoughts were this.

There must be more Futura`s out there, both in the UK and EU, some with access to the net, some without. If we could get news OUTSIDE the board, this would increase the activity on the board in general, and as we grow in size, as a one make club, so ride outs / meets / annual events will fall together easier.

I don`t think for a minute that the VFR club got their trip together at the first go, and as always after the trial run the others will want to join in. It may not be a big event first time out......

Now, where did you say in France again ?? :) :) :)

Still up for it ....

Hi Rab ,
Yes i'm hard to get stopped once i 've put my mind on something!
Seems like i'm not the only one though , am i not Rab ?
So to answer your question , yes i've been there several times before and it's a nice twisty and beautiful area between the forrest and at a height around 3600ft(1200m.) and it isn't even that far in France .
It's located near the German border in the square Nancy-Epinal-Colmar-Strasbourg .
Maybe this info will warm other Futura-boys a lttle bit more up!
Maybe one could bring other brand-friends along?

I travel to Edinburgh just about every three months or so on business from Fort Collins, Colorado. I have done a lot of sight seeing north of Edinburgh all the way to Inverness and back(yes I did see Nessie :) ). From Edinburgh I have travelled to the east coast (St. Andrews) north to Inverness through central Scotland and then back trough the west coast (Oban). The only unfortunate part - it was all done in a car. Scotland is magnificient to ride your bikes in. The drive around the Lochs are fantastic. I would highly recommend Scotland for riding but only in summer :) . I have a couple of pictures that show some of the roads. If I can figure out how to post pics, I will post them. Good luck.

Speedy

You could send them to micah@apriliaforum.com , he will post them for you!
You're right.......Scotland IS very beautiful , but as you could read on my first attempt for an AGRO ,not beautiful enough to get some bikers overthere!
I wonder where the biketravellers are on the net or am i the only one that isn't using his bike for work/home and sundays only?Seems hard to believe but..............

Cheers , Danny

Count me and the missus in. It's a Bank Holiday on Monday 26th May in the UK, so that fits nicely. Anyone have any particular recommendations on motorcycle Channel crossings (only taken the car in recent years)?

Yes !!!That's three of us allready!(Podpeeze-wannafutura-Speedy)
Try P&O northseaferries , Eurotunnel (shuttle) or Hoverspeed for your channelcrossings , i did Calais-Dover retour with the Seacat from Hoverspeed for some 100Euro (two pers.+motorcycle)when i visited Podpeeze (hi mate)a copple of weeks ago .
I've allready found some possible accomodation but will wait a little bit longer untill we know for sure with howmany of us we'll be,ok?
Keep up,Danny

If I remember rightly you hail from the East. Dover's the best bet to Calais from your area. I havent decided yet whether to come over to Dover or go Portsmouth/Caen and cut across country. Think I'd better check the map!

I am Interested in meeting other Futura Drivers,
the Vogesen are ok, perhaps we can meet each other earlier in France, I come not far away from Aachen.
Here in Germany is a Forum of italic-bikes and there are some Futura Drivers registered, and if you want to reach many Futura Drivers, i can post the meeting proposal in this forum.

Speedy
11-29-2002, 05:51 AM
Good idea , why not?
I think it's better to stick on that date now Hollowman .
It otherwise gets confused and difficult to find some days off !
Aachen-Gérardmer(Vogezen) has almost the same distance as Brussels-Gérardmer ..........must be possible , not?

Keep warm , Danny

OK, I will post it this evening with a link to this site.
The weatherforcast here for tomorrow is not so bad, it should not rain, but the temeratures are going down, so this weekend is perhaps the last without snow, and then we will need spikes to drive with the futura.
have a nice weekend and by the way, brussel is about 150km form here, no problem to make this extra km in your direction next spring.

Heh heh heh.... I`m still here ;)

I know where you get your handle now :)

Its still a while to go, and I don`t even have the bike yet. I said that 8 or 9 appeared to be from the UK and I`m still searching the net for more. Other web sites and the likes. It is definately a better date, by good luck it is a holiday weekend and that could make it easier for some folks, although if I make it over, and i hope I do, then I would want to make a longer holiday of it.

Don`t be disheartened Speedy..... there`s a long road ahead ;) ;) ;)

A few ride-outs, some foto`s and the interest will grow... there don`t appear to be many Futuras out there to start with...

I`ll be around... and we`ll meet one day....

No turning back now guys! I've booked the time off and will be there. Confimed. Definite. Of course that's if Aprilia get on and repair the twisted one. The nice man collected the bike 10 days ago. Asked me to send it a Christmas card as I wouldn't be seeing it again till next year. Prob is, I dont think he was joking! So lets give Danny some support and get down to France. Mmmmm, I can taste the Vino already!

Sorry to hear about your troubles with getting the bike sorted that does not sound good. I can`t recall the circumstance but it shouldn`t matter that much. Who are you insured with ?? and was it the fault of another??

Sounds poor performing. Hope it works out better in reality.

Ok Jon, I didn`t want to rabble on earlier but just that very thing happened to my mate about 2 months ago. Sitting at a roundabout waiting to go on when clear, car hits him from behind , wipe-out. he was not badly hurt (no broken bones but sore and stiff) and he had a witness.
Contacts insurance, they take the bike to local dealer, who in turn chats to my mate about the circumstance. He was put in touch with a company who only deal in claims for bikers and only if it is "no-fault".He had to pay £10 to join.

The service is superb, absolutely unbelievable, they deal with everything, claims for his kit, bike , injuries the lot. He got a replacement bike from them right away, and because his was a K100RT he wanted a tourer for commuting so they had a PAN brought up from bristol to Scotland no charge....... it was there the next day !!!!
His was a write off and the cheque is through but he got to keep the PAN for a further period( I think it was 2 weeks) to give him a chance to find a replacement. All in all the best tenner anyone could spend. We went to reading to pick up his new bike on thursday....... a PAN :(
I don`t have a contact for them , but you need to speak to someone, and soon.

Happy to find out who if it helps

Thanks for that Rab! I am currently going through solicitors for all that but I have to say, nobody's offered me a loan bike so it obviously pays to shop around for the best help. My insurance company has been a dead loss as I am TPFT they aren't interested. They just passed it on! We pay good money for insurance these days and I expected much Quicker service. Especially as the prang happened on the 1st Nov!!!! Spout over.

HI John, welcome to the group.
Your not too late mate, at the mo I think there are about10 bikes or so and you will be made welcome. Speedy is waiting till Jan to organise acommodation for those confirmed, while I, (and hopefully there will be others) will have to wait till nearer the time.
Not all the bikes will be Futura`s, but personally that matters not :D :D

HI, I sure do live near, just over the bridge in Fife. I am at the moment planned to start a contract in London on the 6th , but it has been known to go wrong and be delayed.
If I am around, I`d be happy to meet up, I`ll post an update next week
Confession time........ I still don`t have mine yet :(
My money is down but I am waiting till march for delivery as, in the UK, the 03 reg comes out on the 1st of march and it will enhance the resale a little.Apart from that I won`t be using it in this weather anyway and it means my warranty starts march to.
If I recall correctly you are over regular anyway, so if I miss you this time, there is always next :D

Hi Rab - Let me know if you can make it. Monday or Tuesday night work well for me. Depending on how business goes, I will be departing on either Wednesday or Thursday. I will be staying at the Balmoral on Princes street. And if not this time then perhaps the next time we can meet.

Thanks.

Happy & safe Newyear to all folks !

Hi Jon T., Ofcourse you're welcome to join the AGRO to France .
As Rab said there will be others from the UK and Jon (Podpeeze) will collect the names and numbers for me this week or so ,so that i can really start making reservations overthere .
There will also be about five Belgian bikers (most Mille's) who will join the AGRO .
For those who want , send me a mail to confirm with how many and i will exchange this info with Podpeeze and make further arrangements .

It seems that we will be with plenty afterall !

Cheers , Danny : dafuel@skynet.be

Hey up Speedy , where you been?
Hope you had a good xmas and new year sir :D :D
I am still optimistic, and it is looking more likely I'll make it. There is also a chance some others may join me as well, we are discussing making it part of a club trip for longer... we'll see
Once you know the town or village you plan to stay in it would help a little to know, but its not critical.
Can we really let Jon come on a VFR V-tec?? is this allowed?? It might not be able to keep up
