Can anyone tell me the nearest market in which the DD1200 standard model is available, i.e. NO ABS and/or Traction Control?

American models get no ABS or "Traction" (our models still have the riders map available- Sport / touring / rain)

Thanks, that's worth knowing. But what about Europe? Anyone know where in Europe is the standard model available?

Well no, not in the UK. That's my point. The Std model is not available in the UK. So I'm trying to find out where in Europe the Std model IS available so I know where to go if I decide that is what I want to do.

Do I assume from your comment the Std model is available in Switzerland?

Yes, lower cost is a good reason to be thinking about this. I'm not a fan of electronic controls so it would likely be off all the time and so why not save the money.

Anyway thanks, now I know it's available in Switzerland and US. Anywhere else?

i had the same thoughts on that. but i decided to go with the ABS/ATC.
cause i like to "play" with those electronic helpers :) and i think its better to have them if i sell it again. plus i gotta say that ive never turned the ABS off, dunno why maybe because its turned on again when you switch off the ignition.
i usually ride my DD with ATC on, in mode 1. so some small slides and power-wheelies are still possible.
but i was more than once happy that i got the ATC turned on, especially on wet-roads.. ;) so maybe i did save some money in buying the ABS-model instead of buying the cheaper standart model.

back to your question: the standart model is also available in germany, austria, france.. and i guess in almost every EU-country aswell.

To be honest, I am beginning to agree with what you say, that it might be worth just going for the ABS/ATC model. It certainly would be simpler in the UK and I might get to like playing with the settings:-)

In any case, thanks for the help.

I would have got the ABS/ATC option on my 1200, if it was avalible in the U.S. :pissed:

I bet good money that model will be available in the states next year. I guess Aprilia wanted to see how it sold across the pond first. As long as all of it can be turned off, I think its ok. Theres always a situation it could be turned on and used wisely, rain/gravel/light trail duty.
