Greetings, RSTr's,

I am currently looking to purchase an RST. I've been riding for 18 yrs and currently have an ST1100. I like the ST1100, but it is just plain fat (read, not phat). With ABS, a trunk, and intercom it's got to be pushing 750lbs. It's good for me and the wife, but I want something more powerful, light, and sporty. I'd go after a Mille but don't fit as I'm 6'5". I had the good fotune of taking an RST for a decent (30 miles) demo ride at the Honda Hoot. I was sold that this is the bike that I want.

All of that said, I'm looking to buy now as it is off-season and I'm hoping to "steal" one from a party that needs cash now. Right now I'm down to 2 - a 2002 new out of the box and a 2001 with 1800 miles. I could get a 2001 new, but it's silver and I really want flame red. Here are my options:

2001 with 1800 miles - $9000
2002 new - $11000 + t&t but I also get $500 worth of accessories

I'm not looking for anyone to tell me what they paid, new or used, but rather how these deals stack up in comparison to the deals anyone else got. I know the 2002 comes with a 2-yr warranty, but the 2001 comes with an extended warranty (3rd party) which is transferrable.

Any insight you'd like to provide would certainly be appreciated. Thanks, a I hope to see you on the roads soon. I'm leaning towards the used bike as I think I can shave another $500 off.

Thanks,

G

Hi
You can probably do a little better if you realy look and depending on what part of the country you are in . I recently found 2 ash grey 02's for 9000 but that's not a terrible savings.
If it costs you a little more forthe color you want it is probably worth it IMHO.
Good luck

Just got off the phone with the (former) owner of the '01. We came to an agreement at $8500 USD and he will deliver (we're 200 miles apart).:D :D :D

Once I get the bike and take some eval rides, I'll be back looking for assistance on pipes and EFI mapping.

BTW - I really enjoy this board. People with a common passion sharing insight and wit. The web could use more of this.

Now if I could just get the cagers to move over into the right lane after they're done passing....
