I have problems with my Dorsoduro 1200, does not start when I turn on the electric motor sounds good, the pistons do not walk.
Sometimes does not hold the minimum.
Someone else has this problem?

Sometimes, the electric starter motor will briefly stall when the start button is pressed. I do not let off the starter button and the engine almost relunctantly begins to turn and the engine fires up.
When my bike does that, (maybe one in 25 starts) it feels/sounds like a low battery, but also feels that the start is attempting to begin motoring the engine near the top of a compression stroke with no compression relief. I do not know if the 1200 has an automatic compression release during start.

Mine has done it once, its because its a big v-twin, every big twin Ive owned does this to some degree once in a while, pretty normal. It helps to keep a good strong charge/battery tender on the battery. Just sitting for a few days can cause the dreaded slow turnover at first. I had a star warrior that was notorious for this. Keep your battery in top condition and it will help but it still can do it once i a while, hard to get those coffee can sized pistons strokin!:gunner:

Redduro ! Hows she breaking in? How many miles now? I went to the local dealer and rode the 1200 and I thought it was superb. The owner said the demo took a while to break in and the DD1200 keeps getting better the more miles they put on it.

oh, around 200 now I think, Im still keeping it below the break in shift light for now. I may have hit 8k rpm a couple times just to lift the wheel, heh heh. I like it alot so far, its what the DD750 should have been all along. Im looking forward to getting some performance parts for it, slip-on and some sort of tune/ecu flash. This bike has potential in it for more power, its just gonna take some know-how. It has a slight weep around the water pump cover and Im waiting to hear more news on that. Go get ya one! you wont regret it.:)

Good to hear!!!! Centerline might correct me, but I hear that 1200 doesn't truly open up till after 600 miles and the first service. The one I rode was incredible and had about 650 miles on it. And yes looking to get a black one next week, but want to test ride the Duc 1200 Multi first.

I'll look it up later in the manual for the exact mileage recommendations, but the beast comes "restricted" from the factory with the shift warning light set for 6K rpm. The manual says that rev limit is only needed for the fist 284 or thereabouts miles. When I hit that mileage, I could feel no noticeable difference on my butt dyno and the shift light sayed at 6K RPM until I reset it higher. With the 600 mi check, which is mainly to check valve clearances and change oil, the dealer did absolutely nothing to the ECU. I continuously had been raising the rev limiter over the miles, and the beast did not come out of the 600 mile check with any noticeable difference in power to me.
What I have noticed over the miles so far is a continuing limbering up if you will, of the beast. at my current mileage (2,300+) it feels really fine, with incredible snap off of idle when in neutral, just blipping the throttle.
From day one, the 1200 has impressed me with its almost vicious TORQUE from 2500 RPM up to 9000 RPM. It is intoxicating and really FUN !!:)

Hmm, not sure how they would limit power anyway, Ive never heard of any bike having a limiter put in for breakin. Its just like the DD750, which had the shift light set for 6k rpm as a marker to keep revs relatively low for the break in period, I had my DD750 screaming within 200 miles and it ran fine. Im not a big believer in babying the motor, it can take it. Centerline is right the DD12 is a torque laden motor, not a screamer by any stretch of the imagination, it prefers short shifting and riding the wave of torque. Next few rides for me are going to be spirited high rpm stints, gearing down 2-3 gears in the curves to allow the engine braking to really break the motor in. Good oil change after and she be good to go.:gunner:

Just got my DD1200 and it struggles to start in the cold mornings (below 5*C), big twin issue, my harley is the same takes at least 2 or 3 goes, fine when it warms up. Mine has just passed the 400 km 6000rpm limiter (now it goes like I stole it). Just got to work out why the little red light keeps flashing at me when I nail it?

Hi posty,
that should be the "gear shift light/indicator" ... you can set it within the menu :)

hehe ... have fun ... maybe you can tell me later at how much rpm the motor gets cut ;o)

Hey Jo do you know why the general warning light stays flashing after a ride cant find anyhing in the manual. not sure if its just a hot engine thing, goes away if i turn the ignition back on, but flashes once I turn it off again, i'm confused.

when you turn everything off, lock it and remove the key ?
btw: to answer my question from the post before ... rev limiter after 401km = ~10000rpm :blah:

Yep, I can second that. while running in the limiter kicks in at about 6500RPM, shift light is set at 6000
After the 400KM initial run in the limiter turns itself off, wikkid if you weren't maying attention, and say maybe stopped for petrol at 408  But you still have to set the shift light yourself.
After that the new limit is about 10 000, maybe just over.

I haven't seen that before Posty, I'd say take a trip to the dealer, might just be a software glitch, but it might also be something slightly more problematic like a faulty thermo probe . . .
Anywho I'm sure they can jack it into their computer and read the error logs.
Better safe than sorry
EDIT: Brainfart On My Part
You mean the red light right? It flashes every like maybe 3-5 seconds when the bike is off & locked? If so then it's the immobiliser operation indicator

btw:
why didn't Aprilia made a "red zone" on the rev gauge !???

Just hit 500 miles. The rev limiter came off at about 250 miles. Bikes seems to get better every day. Had it in sport mode traction switched off and it's a lot of fun.
Had two starting probs when engine hot. Dash resets then revs drop engine dies. Both times restarted with no problems. Will mention at 600 service but Falco did similar things. Think it's just a twin thing.

I think it is an Italian thing. None of my past Ducatis had redlnes or red zones on the tachometers.
