Hows the seat on the 1200 compared to the 750? Is it the same seat ?

Dont have my DD750 anymore but it doesnt feel the same by memory. The DD12 seat is rounder, less edgy feeling. The DD750 gel seat was pretty nice though.

FINALLY!! motorcycle.com has done a review of the DD12, according to their dyno 115hp and 73ftlbs, pretty much what I guessed it to be all along. No wonder it feels comparable to my old Zuki TL1000S, it was 112hp and 71ftlbs.

Eat my own words, at 1200cc's the DD12 is waaay under stressed! all the competitive 1200 bikes make upwards of 128-138hp, even the ducati 1098 streetfighter easily trumps the DD12 output. So for this 2011 1200cc bike to feel like a 1998 1000cc bike is not that impressive at all. I sure hope there is a way to wake this beast up.

As Redduro posted, not the same seat as the DD750, but for me, much more comfortable than either the stock 750 seat or the gel seat for the 750.
About the power output.... how many more thousands of $$$$ or Euros are the more highly tuned Ducati L-Twin Testastrettas ( and maintenance $$$) than the lesser tuned, but massively torque laden DD1200?

I was really interested in the new duc multi, but after reading all the problems with it on the multi forum, ill gladly stick with aprilia. My DD 750 has been rock solid since day 1!

Not so sure they are spending $$$ or euros to tune them that much more, I mean 13 yrs ago suzuki was getting DD12 hp numbers out of 1000cc v-twins, same with honda in 99/00 with the RC51, it was making upwards of 118hp/72tq and those bikes were dead solid reliable needing valve adj only every 16,000 miles. I owned one with 26,000 miles and it was rock solid. Now all the 1200 v-twins are putting out appropriate hp numbers of 125 or better at the wheel, its just that Aprilia chose to detune the DD12 for some reason, perhaps because its direct competition is relatively weak in the SUMO market. By the way the DD12 has higher compression than the Multistrada and nearly identical bore/stroke figures, the DD12 must have restricted intake and boring cam numbers.

Hey guys does the 1200 have the infamous 750 water pump rattling sound?

Hmm, not sure about this one. My DD750 never made any rattles down there and the DD12 doesnt rattle but it weeps a little AF.

My DD750 water pump didn't make any rattles that I could detect in the 8,500 miles of use on it. The 1200 of mine seeps coolant around the cover mating surface, (awaiting parts for 2 months now) but Ducati silicone sealant fixes the issue.

Just from what I've read on the Multi forums, there's problems with the gas tank expanding and causing the plastic panels to seperate and some Multi owners complain about the figment of all plastic panels. Also read various screws are stripping on the bike while working on it. I really considered getting the Multi but now that the 1200 DD is out and after riding it, I fell in love. Although I've never had a chance to ride the Multi, It does looks badass!

Ive heard of some of the other ducati models having the gas tank expanding issue but not on the mts. I've also taken the front fairing and tank off twice and didn't have any screws strip and the fitment seem fine to me. I'm not trying to promote a ducati on a aprilia forum but I would suggest doing some more research and a demo ride. Checkout ducati.ms forum if u haven't already.
