Hey Ed, just wanted to see what the remedy was going to be for tuning the DD12, I know you guys mentioned some possibilities that were different than the DD750. Hopefully something will surface as soon as aftermarket exhausts and filters start showing up. A memjet isnt going to cut it. Any update on what might be coming up?

Hmm, sounds like a winner. I guess since you will take yours in after slip-ons and intake mods to get it tuned I will wait till you have yours dialed in and Ed can flash your map into my ECU. I imagine I will have the same setup you end up with since there are not a lot of options out yet for the DD12. Im in KY by the way so heading to Texas is a bit of a haul for me and not in the cards for the foreseeable future. Like you said its a decent running bike as of now, so I will just keep....:peace:

Hey Ed, one review finally released the numbers for the DD12, im sure you already knew it was around 115hp/73tq. Whats curious is that the review kinda goofed by comparing it to the Ducati 1200 multistrada, a touring machine. It makes around 128hp/78tq. Do you think there is potential for the DD12 to make that amount of HP? It sure does seem like the 1200 motor should be at least 10hp stronger and a few ftlbs higher. I know the DD12 motor is way under stressed based off what I have read and the other 1200 motors on the market. What gives? you guys learned of any potential mods/tuning to make it a competitive 1200? I realize that in its intended segment of SUMO's it leads the class easily, but as a 1200 it is very detuned.

I love it, the 750 was under stressed and we all wanted more power or extra capacity......now they bring out a 1200 and everyone thinks its under stressed and wants more power lol. We're a funny breed aren't we :):)

I know I am a hp junky!! The DD12 will be more than enough for all but the diehard nuts like myself, maybe its because I've had v-twins before with DD12 performance and was expecting a little more from a 1200. OR maybe its because I just got rid of my B-King and it was positively a "motor" bike. Either way its a fine bike and Im sure the guys at AF1 will put out some fine go fast goodies for it.

I know what you are saying Redduro. The DD1200 in stock form costs way under the Ducati HM 1100, is some few lbs heavier, but with those extra 100cc's the DD1200 puts out 35 more ponies at the crank and I forgot how much more torque:):)

Well thats a good point but in all fairness the HM1100 is rather ancient technology and air cooled which limits the state of tune. A better comparison is the streetfighter, its only an 1100/1098 but produces much higher numbers than the DD1200, close to 20hp more and a little more torque also. Aprilia made the DD12 the highest hp in the SUMO class but as far as 1200's go its quite a bit down on performance IMO.

We will never know what can be opened up or tuned unless the AMarket gets a move on and puts out some parts!! I cant remember when a new model was ever released that the AMarket was so far behind on performance parts for it. Its almost like they got caught off guard and have never layed eyes on a DD1200!! LOL.

Well, I just saw the Arrow slip-ons for the DD12, kind of a let down, hate to have to butcher a set of new pipes just to remove the small cats they stuck in the y-pipe. Guess I will wait for Akrapovic to throw their hat in the ring. :o

Talked to Ed today at AF1 Racing. Buying his set of Arrows for the DD1200. Will take the bike to them probably early next week and get before and after dyno runs.:fangs::cheers:

Excellent news, They are some sweet pipes, I just wish they didnt have the mini cats in the y-pipe. Did Ed say if they can tune your bike too? ECU flash? Looking forward to seeing what you can get out of her.:gunner:

We didn't talk about tuning the ECU..... and having the cat in the Y-pipe is a bummer......but I will keep the cat in it and changed out later when a non-cat Y pipe becomes available. Would be then easy to put it back if at some point sniffer tests are imposed on bikes here in Texas.
