Last Friday I rode out to Rose Farm Classics in Woodstock, IL to check it out and thank them for some helpful phone advice. I was greeted by the owner Jim, who is an incredibly cool guy. He brewed me a cup of coffee and threw a brat on the grill. Then he took care of some safety issues a previous technician had created and gave the bike a quick tune.

After 1 hour of labor and 2 hours of hanging out with him and his daughter, I left knowing I would make the trip there again. If you are ever in the Chicago suburbs, be sure to stop by. Fantastic place!

If that's his daughter on the home page of the website, I'm heading up there soon.

What a great looking shop! I predict Guzzi is going to continue to grow. Sensible motorcycle for us aging gents who will not go quietly into the night haunted by HD and Gold Wings.

Jim also has one of these in the back room.

No, a question mark in a blue box. :)

So true! They exude an aficionado's wisdom and charm, yet without pretense, do they not?

I can't believe I sold my Eldo. :bangwall: Oh well, at least the consolation is that Cheesy's buddy PR will be teabagging it.

That looks like a really great shop, too. Did you see this write-up by (I believe) one of our forum members? http://danilogurovich.wordpress.com/2009/01/25/a-trip-to-rose-farm-classics/

I love my Guzzi and hope to never sell it.

As far as the company "growing", I don't know.
The slogan "Moto Guzzi, going out of business for 80 years" seems more accurate to me.

Your Eldo is still currently languishing in LA. But not for long! It's new home is going to be New Zealand! A long story cut short is that its easier for me to ship it to NZ, (Where I don't have a bike and an Eldo will be ideal.) than to Oz and it ties in with a fund-raiser/rescue mission some of the Guzzi folks are doing for a bloke who has had the cam recall done badly no less than FOUR times on his '03 EV in Christchurch.

After so many failures the motor is toast so we've got a plan whereby I stick a V11 motor with all its ancilliaries in the crate with your Eldo and it all goes to NZ. Then I'll fly over and do an engine, ECU and TB transplant into the dead EV. The bloke will end up with an 80+HP Cali which should stick some lead in its pencil, I get an Eldo in NZ and we all get to feel pretty good about stuff.

What's not to like??

Pete

I have deceived you mightily Soul Daddy!!
I am one of the most pretentious ItaloBikePhiles still yet breathing.
I am greviously disappointed that I am too far away to "grace" this Rose Farm shop with my cantankerous presence.

Apparently that site does not take kindly to hotlinking images. It was a photo of an MGS-01.

Great blog article. Thanks for sharing the link.
