Has anyone installed driving lights to their Futura? What brand - PIAA - and where did you put them on the skin?

:rollin: this is a clip from the instructions....
MotolightsŪ are designed to be mounted on the FORK SLIDERS of your motorcycle. They are not to be confused with the FORK TUBES, which are highly polished and move in and out of the fork sliders.<em> DO NOT mount MotolightsŪ on the fork tubes. </em>

OK if you can't figure out not to mount them there maybe you shouldn't have the bike... :rollin:

Looks like a good project.... who's doing them I can't wait on a report???

Have you considered the simple mod that leaves your dipped light on when you use full beam. Works for me.

Are vision lights a brand?? What is the wattage of these and what kind of light boost can I expect? My problem is not out front lighting - the stock are great. My problem is the side of the road out front - where the deer lay in wait.

rstgary,

Here's a link for the VisionPlus bulbs:

www.autolamps-online.com/...centre.htm (http://www.autolamps-online.com/products/h7vpluscentre.htm)

The guy who turned me on to 'em didn't think that it was truly 50% brighter than stock (the RST has pretty good lights to begin with, imho). At first, I tended to agree with him, although they did seem whiter.

Over time, I've come to appreciate the lights. Side-to-side is pretty good, esp. on low beams, and the high beams light up a long ways ahead :) (note that I've adjusted my beams up a bit, which probably frustrates drivers in front of me, but if they're frustrated by me, that means they've <strong>seen</strong> me...!)

The Motolights are supposed to have good horizontal beamage (new word there); plus, being mounted on the forks, they tend to point to where you're going on the curvy bits...I saw the lights at a moto show, and they're dazzling, that's all I know... :)

HTH..

You would think too that because it is a H7 bulb it will work.... WELL IT DOESN'T. Don't ask me why. I ordered bulbs online from some import racing place, H7 bulbs, they dont fit, in fact they are completely different, so becareful in shopping.

P.S. I got a :smokin: deal for someone looking for some H7 bulbs :rollin: .

What do I buy guys??
Are they H7?

MNRSTRIDER! when you took the old ones out, if the H7 didn't fit, did you look at what number was on the bulb that was in? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">
Was that an H7?
do I need to buy a hammer as well (to make them fit)

Rab, if it's any help, the following from www.autolamps-online.com/...centre.htm (http://www.autolamps-online.com/products/h7vpluscentre.htm) were what I ordered (and am pretty happy with):

H7 VisionPlus 12 volt 55 watt (per pair) $40.00
H7 12972VP

I got two pair, and thus have one spare.

It's kind of neat to watch the road signs flash 1/2 mile ahead of me on the freeway...

I think it had something moe to do with me buying funky bulbs, they are/were probably H7 that are somehow specific to a different light fixture, ohh they were 85 watt too  maybe thats the prob? Don't know.

I LOOKED IN THE APRILIA PARTS CATALOG AT THE DEALERSHIP I WORK AT AND IT CALL FOR H7 55 WATT BULBS.

PaulZX9R
02-20-2003, 08:41 AM
They are H7 bulbs, but... they are <strong>H4</strong> mountings. There is an adapter on the back of the bulb as fitted, that must be removed and placed on the new bulb. If you remove one of the existing bulbs you will see it clearly.

The only thing I kind of see as a problem here is blinding on-coming traffic. It would be something that makes it harder for them to judge your speed or location relevent to them because all they see is a light that doesn't necassarily look like it gets closer. I've noticed this while riding or in my car. It makes it hard to judge the speed of the oncoming vehicle. This might cause a problem when someone thinks they can turn left in front of you when there actually ins't enough room because they misjudged your speed and distance.

I'm all for being seen and being able to see but high beams already annoy people as it is since it is hard to drive with them in your eyes in the day or night.

I'm actually thinking of getting these add-on lights to light up the side areas that the stock lights don't get. In Texas the deer are everywhere and I'd like to be able to see them before they make their run in front of me.

Snowing or not, the roads were not nice and I'll probably wait .. on the other hand, I could take a ferry and run it in through the black forrest :rollin: :rollin:
