I've read in some places that the Aprilias can not be run without the factory dash assembly (a Falco in this instance). Something about the F.I. system tying into the dash? Can anyone verify if this is the case, and also what modifications would be necessary to run an aftermarket dash. Thanks!

The Futura runs without a dash (Sagem FI)
Same would be true for your Falco.
Later Aprilia models will not run without dash/mods

Why not? What circuit(s) prevent running?

CAN-BUS line between dash and ECU, interrupted and bike won't start. (Gen 2 RSVR)
For the rest of the later model bikes as Dorsos, Manas, Shivers, RSV4s, Tuono gen2 and Tuono V4, the dash is also the immobilizer controller. Dash not connected; immobilizer lock out AND CAN-BUS interrupted.
