Just in from the rst1000.org mailing list  :

OK folks, I had to change the date because of a huge Harley Davidson rally so we are all set for the first ever Futura Lone Star Rally in Boerne, Texas on May 23-25, 2003.

Rally headquarters will be the Boerne Vistro located at 911 S. Main St. This is a combination Sunday House and restaurant. They have a limited number of rooms there so call and make your reservations early.

Boerne Vistro
830-249-9536
www.boernevistro.com/home.html (http://www.boernevistro.com/home.html)

There is no rally fee, no rally tee shirts and no rally pins.

You are responsible for all your own expenses; meals, rooms, dancing girls, gasoline and traffic tickets.

There is a banquet (Dutch treat) planned for 7:30 PM Saturday May 24 at Boerne Vistro where we can all tell vivid tales about how we traversed the beautiful Hill Country roads like Kenny Roberts or Gary Nixon.

For those of you not familiar with the Hill Country there will be
suggested ride sheets with maps.

An informal happy hour is being set up for Friday evening for those who are interested. More info to follow.

We will be doing our best to shake down dealers and Aprilia for some door prizes. No promises but we are trying.

Please drop me a note if you are planning on attending so I can let the restaurant have a number.

This event is open to all Aprilia riders (and even Ducati riders if they are willing to buy a round at the bar.) :)

Other motels in the area are:

Key to the Hills Motel
1228 S. Main
Boerne, Texas
830-249-3562

Holiday Inn
35000 I-10
Boerne, Texas
830-249-6800

Best Western
35150 I-10
Boerne, Texas
830-249-9791

I'll see about getting all this info up on the web as soon as I get caught up with the Waltz.

Look forward to seeing everyone.

I'm only about 1.5 hours north on the expressway, so I'm really psyched to meet other RST riders, and follow them around the hill country... :D

Are you planning to visit KC International in San Antonio on this ride ? Since they are having there Aprilia open house March 22 it would be a kick to have a whole bunch of Futura's show up for another visit to there shop. Who know's maybe we could score some goodies !

Paul you write a good story! It sounded like a great trip.
Its a shame you didn't get much interest, I know how you feel but I don't feel so bad about getting four Futura's together last week. Next year I hope to double that figure at least and I'm sure you will too!
Good luck! :D

podpeeze,

I mainly wanted more RSTs together for a cool photo-op.

As long as one Futura is there (i.e., me), I'm happy... ;)

Sorry I did not make the ride. My son went into the Coast Guard on that weekend so things were a little out of sorts :x with my bride and our only son going off for boot camp. I was looking forward to meeting up with you and others in Boerne .
Maybe we can get a few riders together for another ride sometime in the near future or if you are headed for Corpus Christi let me know.

No problem, getting RSTs together is apparently akin to herding cats.

Anyway, I'm most PO'd at Peregrin. ;) (not really)

Paul, I was planning to attend our Texas RST get-together but my bike is still on the lift with the 600-mile service in work (you know the one- the only RST to require a valve adjust at the 600 mile service).

I work slowly but plan on making it down for a Hill Country tour later in the riding season.

Excellent trip report by the way.

Hey, stuff happens, John. Didn't mean to sound whiney, it was fun to joke with the other riders (Jack/Paula) about how close we were to rivalling Daytona... :p
