Derestricted. No, technically not. However, if you can find one that has not had it done, I'll be surprised. Everyone on here rides derstricted. Basically, it's the removal of a washer welded inside the exhaust that chokes off the exhaust, and rejetting the carb ot suit. It had been done before we bought the bike, and as the father of the prospective rider, I was happy. 20mph where we live is too slow, you'd be in the gutter being overtaken, and there's no room. It's the whole reason why people buy RS50's, not rev an go's. So, your call. Will's is technically re-restricted, but unless he's got hold of a std exhaust with the washer still in, which I doubt, his is not properly restricted either. He said he gopt busted for rding it, well, he's pretty outspoken on the forum, or was, I'd say he was a prize pratt for getting himself nicked. I'd bet riding de-rezzed was not what they pulled him up for, and also bet he was lippy with the cops.

Yeah I second that. I can't remember seeing one restricted after hours of searching for one.
Will was a good example of what not to do. Keep yourself to yourself especially online modification wise and your opinion of the law, to a certain extent. 'Apparently' they were watching him on here because he was shouting his mouth off and being a pratt.
Keep your bike standard looking so it doesn't attract any attention, maintain a good road position, wear good gear and a plain helmet. All of these things doesn't make you stand out to the Police which I'm sure you don't want if you are riding illegally.
Another thing that helps is make sure you display L plates rear and front, not cut down etc. Make sure the rear one is rigid so it doesn't get weathered so much. For example, bang your L plate on the screen. Police have been known to stop and give a fixed penalty and £60 fine for mounting their L plate on the mudguard. They have said it isn't visible enough which is questionable, sometimes.
It's one of those things that most Police officers would turn a blind eye to but there is always one who won't. Simple fact.
Just my 2c.

LOL, what boot do you have? I have a box trailer it fits inside. I brought it back from Swansea in it. Delivery not a problem. Though if you had a CBT, you could easily ride it home. Reading 32 to me, I used to work there. Well, OK, that was London Rd, nr J10. I could almost certainly do any of those days, depending on time. There's a train if you came on your own, the station is 2 1/2 miles, Dorking Deepdene. I'd fetch you and take you back.

Most RS 50's do the school run. Helmets do fit in your usual school locker. They did 30 years ago, and my kids tyell me they do now, though of course some schools don't have them. Be a pain to carry it around all day. I had a spare one briefly, maybe should have thought of this. Some dickheads tried to nick my 250 in London the other day, and I was forced to remonstrate with them. One of the bastards has caused me an injury, he had someting heavy and hard in his trouser pocket, which he assaulted my big toe with. Anyway, I got the helmet they had with them, and scared/beat them off. However, theft is the intention to permanently deprive, so I left the helmet for them to collect at their leisure. If anyone knows them, the helmet is at hyde park corner, opposite the piccadilly exit. It's only 4 miles from Hammersmith.
BTW, there is no way on God's earth of getting an RS50 into the boot of a vectra without dismantling one or t'other!
TomRS50

Old Geezer
12-09-2009, 11:47 AM
No, 1400. Did them some damage they'll have to explain to their mummies, and as I say, if they want the helmet back, it's at hyde park corner. I am fine, a bit bruised, you can't go for 4 people and not expect to take a hit or 2. My technique is to be a total animal, use all limbs, max damage minimum time. It was helped by the RS250 having a headlight flasher where the starter button should be, LOL. That kept them guessing, and kept them looking at the bike. I'd already put 1 out of action before the other 3 looked up.

Loool Well Done Old Geezer. Nice one, sounds like you sure showed them a lesson, how old abouts where they?
In relation to the helmet, I'm pretty sure you could leave it in the staff room or find somewhere quiet to leave it, just make sure you take your gloves in your bag. I never had a problem of leaving my bike in school. Were not allowed to take bikes or cars to school now :bond: so I never ride the vfr to school as there are far to many fucking idiots around that would love to sit on it or do something to it, but then I would be expelled for what I would do to them ;)
Old Geezer
12-09-2009, 12:23 PM
My kid's school, the rule is no L drivers, cars or bikes. But the church car park has room for the L bikes, so not really a problem. Helmets are safe in the 6th form block, it's a private school and we are the poorest family there, the other kids don't need to nick helmets.

Oh I see, I'll hear what the staff have to say.
Face to face I'm respected a lot by almost everyone, but there are a few odd people I don't know, so I dnt think my bike would be in danger. I dnt think they'd wanna fight me either lol even though I'd probably not hit them back hard (probably coz I can't, but being 6,6 helps to intimidate people :))
DanHam
12-09-2009, 12:30 PM
No L riders! What a joke man, thats rather insulting I must say.
I left mine in the 6th form block.
Lol your bike should be fine, I'm sure the staff would be prepared to find out any little shits who did any damage to it in the first place.
Old Geezer

Reminds me, must buy new clutch lever, it got knocked over by a school run mum a couple of months ago. The ends of the levers are kinda sacrificial on RS 50's, they snap off in such a way as you can still use them perfectly well.

Old Geezer
12-10-2009, 12:13 PM
Take no less than £900 to end early. Be strong, tell him you won't let it go early for less, and if he doesn't like it you arre happy to let the auction run. He needs to come to you with the rest of the money in his pocket, even if he then knocks you down from £900, you are still better off. Make sure a parent is in, or failing that, your biggest, ugliest mate. There are some utter bastards out there (recent experience, LOL) and he mayb be honest, or he may be a rip off merchant. Cash only no cheques, no test rides without £900 in your hand, and the money is yours if he crashes it. And make sure yousee his insurance if he does ride it, otherwise you too are guilty of permitting to ride without insurance.
I won't have to be so hard if our mutual friend comes to see me, I will have the 250 warmed up to chase him on LOL if he does a runner on it!!

yeh thought so, just wondering because u said make sure you see the insurance before you let him test drive.
Yeah, his insurance.
His insurance has to cover him for riding another persons bike, also alot of insurance companys will only cover someone thrid party only if they are riding another persons bike not on the insurance policy. Provided the other bike is insured by someone else and that your insurance policy covers you to ride other bikes not on your policy.
Which i can guarentee yours dosn't.

When they win the item they have to agree to certain things and the price is one of those.
