Charged the battery last night and robbed the builders petrol (they're putting paving in my garden and use a petrol cement mixer and they left a bit of petrol in my garage lol).
Anyway, chucked the battery on earlier and after the petrol had ran through she fired up :D:D:D
Just got to get all the panels on now and i can get it on the road, can't wait :D

Yeah they sound mint.
Got some gutting news today though. I rang my insurance company to check if i could swap it over to the 400 and i can't because im on a special scooter (50-125cc) insurance policy, so they won't insure 400's.
So i've got 2 options, wait until april when my insurance is up on the 125 and get new insurance on the 400 or chuck away 8months of no claims (basically lol) and just get a new insurance policy now.
Well seeing as the no claims are really important at the moment it's looking like im going to be on the 125 until april :( :( :( :(
I can't even open up a new policy for the 400 as the no claims are in use on the 125 so insurance with no no claims on a 400 at my age would cost way too much really.

Mine was exactly the same Dan, i just cancelled it. I had a right load of shit with insurance. With 'one sure insurance' not saying I declared mods and shit. In the end it came to them accepting it was them in the wrong and me getting a full refund. I am now back with MCE.
Could you not get the other company to carry over 8 months, say like in 4 months of you riding the 400 you can have a no claims year as you haven't claimed. You get what I mean?

Yeah i know what you mean dan, dosn't work like that unfortunatly matey.
Not sure on the price difference but according to lexham when i rang up when i first got the 125 and just asked about the 400 they said the difference between 1yrs no claims and 2yrs on a 400 is massive. Either way im not chucking away 8 months, so im fuckered lol.

The perils of 400cc ownership. This is what led my lad to the rs125. I offered hima V4, a CBR 250 or 400, or a 500cc single. He still wanted the RS125, on grounds that he was going to uni, and would need to keep costs down. That's what you get for doing economics A level I guess. Seriously, it is an issue though. Insurance on an RS125 is £270 TPFT with 1 yr no claims on an RS50 taken into account. Next year hopefully 25% cheaper, being over 18 and 2 yrs no claims. We'll also be able to pick which location is most advantageous, it's looking like Leicester uni, unless he does a perfect 10 and upgrades to Durham. 3 years of low earnings has to be taken into account when choosing your bike.

TBH with you geezer i've had quotes like that for my 400. Can't remember if i put in 1 years dor 2 years no claims though ? :S
It's annoying as hell that i can't insure it until april but the 125 is so cheap to run and being a honda won't miss a beat. Besides, on these cold, icy, grit covered roads i know which bike i'd rather throw down it.
I think 2 years no claims brings big discounts. Like i said above i was speaking to an insurance broker and he reckons the difference between 1 and 2 years no claims is huge. I think h did say up to 1/2!!
How true that is i don't know.
Good luck to your son. Sounds like he won't have a social life for a little while :( joking.

Wouldn't matter if it was 2 stroke especially. Diesel though:pissed: That doesn't work well at all. Still, it's not as bad as putting petrol in your diesel, that has been known to knacker them permanenetly. Diesel just won't run a normal 4 stroke, and has to be drained out, carbs too. 2 stroke will make it smoke a bit, and run a tad lean, nothing too dire. It's a useful tip after a 4 stroke rebuild to put a few spoons of 2 stroke oil in with the fuel when you start up for the 1st time.

Yeah petrol in diesel is dire.
The diesel acts as a lubricant (for the diesel pump etc) so running petrol through fucks them.
Good tip about putting a few tea spoons of 2-t in with the petrol on a 4t when you re-build one. Will bear that in mind cheers.
