2003 display on 99 mod

have a 2003 display on my 99 rsv. The plug is the same, but the rev counter is way off. i get shift ligt on idling speed. what can i do to fix this.

did you adjust the rev limit on the dash? are you sure its not an oil light coming on, not the shift light?

no i havent adjusted the rev limit. but it shows like 4-5000 revs on idle sped. and idle speed is normal . i seems that the new dash goes to 14000 and the old to 12 or something.

silly question, but are you sure the tachometer needle hasn't slipped on it's shaft?
