I am interested in a Vespa. I currently own a 2009 Sr 50 Aprilia. I purchased new with a Leo Vince ZX exaust. Currently it has 1,600 miles and is in the shop for a new fuel pump. I've been a member on the forum since july of '09 and it seems many owners are having issues in various area's. My scooter performs great with all the de restrictions( ring, plate removal and new mapping ) however since my local dealer has closed I have to travel an hour away to the next nearest dealer( inconveniant )and before anything else goes wrong with mine I just want a reliable scooter. Anyways I've been looking into the GT 200 and LX 150 models and think they would be a great choice. Any input on these two models is appreciated. What do you think my '09 SR50 is worth on trade?, or to sell outright?

Both Vespas that you are considering are good scoots. If I were to couch it in classic Vespa terms, the LX would be a smallframe, and the GT a largeframe. If you just want to bob around town, the LX will be great. It will have about the same top speed as your SR, but it won't have the same zip, and it may be more expensive to modify the engine.

The GT has enough performance that you don't have to modify it for faster acceleration; these things are quick! However, if you want to go longer distances or tour, the Gt will be a much better way to go, with its larger wheels and roomier riding position. The fuel injection seems to put up with questionable gas better than the carburetors, but then again, it's more expensive to put right if something goes wrong.

Hmmm. Now that I think about it, the GT is also carburated. I was thinking of the 250. Ooops. Still a comfy and fun scoot, though! :)
