View Full Version : What is the best sounding exhaust

I am curious as to everyone's oppinon on this subject. As I have yet to run into another Falco that has anything other than stock cans what is your personal pick for the "best sounding" exhaust. Let's forget for a moment that you don't want to upset anyone with an exhaust which is "too loud". At the end of the day which exhaust gives the Falco the exotic italian scream that makes you want to ride just for the sound...

Wow, that Vince DOES sound sweet! I ordered the RSC Carbon + Eprom last week... Can't wait to hear it when it arrives.

Rene's sound the best. I've heard the RSC and ran the vinci's and rene's.

I am partial to the Leo's...and they have the best price. Untill Akro makes some cans the Leo's are the schnizzit...

I have no love for the rene's :)

According to their web site, Akro does make cans for the Falco. In fact, on the web site, they claim that the cans offer performance gains without being as loud as racing cans.
I love the sound of the Leo Vince's, but they are way too loud for everyday use.
Ride safe.

I didn't know there was such a thing as "too loud" :)
I guess if your bike startles you when you start it in the garage, it's too loud.

Even with earplugs in place, the noise from the cans leave my ears ringing. As a sound engineer, I can't afford to ruin my hearing.
The stock Falco cans, measured at 10', develop 80dbA of sound at 2K idle. The Leo cans at the same distance measure a whopping 12 decibels higher at 92dbA. At higher engine RPM's the Leo cans are as much as 16 decibels louder than stock.
On a track ride, I can deal with this noise. Riding to work or riding 2-up for fun, the noise is obnoxious after a few minutes.
Akrapovic claims that their can is only 6 decibels louder than stock. Here is the web link:
www.akrapovic-ai.si/main/.../products- (http://www.akrapovic-ai.si/main/catalog/products-)
catalog.htm. Lockhart-Philips is the USA Akarapovic distributor. Can you get them, Micah?
Ride safe.

Anyone out there know how loud the RSC Carbon pipes are?
Aviator
10-21-2002, 04:24 PM
which cans are you comparing? stock to high mount or stock to low mount? I think the length of the can, also the material make a huge difference on the volume, the longer leos are considerably quieter.
but yes, around town with no plugs my ears ring a slight bit with the highmounts.

I have the high-mount Leo's and the stock cans.

I will agree the SL Carbon cans sound awesome and the Aprilia Racing badging gives them a nice clean stock look.

Best sounding exhaust? Well, mine of course!
Aprilia Fighter cans. But then as the Falco is so rare to encounter on the public road, there are few occasions to experience other systems on the bird.
What about the Arrows? They sound the business on a Duc, anyway.
Or anyone want to comment about Bef's pipes? Very unique with their slender profile and dramatic upsweep.
BTW-This thread is nine years old, like a fine wine.

Any exhaust besides Staintune still in production?
Fuel (UK?) still offers pipes for the Falco. They sell on Fleabay too.
I bought mine recently from JC Exhausts in the UK but it seems their site is down. They're tri-oval carbons.
Between 4 and 5k rpm there is a vibration which doesn't come from the pipes. Anyone knows where to look?
Cheers

Hanna's oasis green is running Carbon Can Company exhausts - sound fruity and loud
they are actually louder at tick over than my set up...
Me - I like, and others have also commented very favourably, on my Mille High mount renegade system with the modded mid collector.... apparently the renegade pipes are very distinctive from a distance
I know that Fuel do make cans still for the falco - they sound ok
I think Blue Flame are also still producing falco cans - they were my favourites after my renegades

GPR custom make any of their sexy new carbon fibre tri exhausts for the falco, although I'm not sure how the new style of exhausts would look on a ermm classy and mature falco
Listing for falco: http://www.gpr-motorcycle-exhausts.co.uk/c/3/FALCO-1000-SL.html
I do know they can customise these to suit the falco

I have a set of used but great condition CF high rise renegades & a set of used SL carbon pipes for sale (I also have a brand new set still in the sl carbon box that I might part with that comes with the chip also!)

I originally had Rene's on my Falco, nice cans, but not the "top notch" in regards to quality when copmpared to Tig's or Leo's or Remus etc. I then switched to that same full tig system after the Rene's. The only bad thing about the "Big Tigs" is your friends will shove fruit and shit in the end, but that's okay, cause when you fire the bike up it will launch an orange like a 5in round! I had that full system on my Falco.
Check out Ixil as well. Ixil makes some really nice stuff, ran that on the Tuono.
I like the Remus stuff the best. Good quality, good sound and good prices.

I own high mount Rene, Alum Leo, Ti Akra's & previously had carbon Akra's.
I really found the carbon Akra's to have a different sound, Rene's are evil in a good way. Leo's are nice too & what I am running at the moment with db killers to not wake our baby & neighbours.
Oh I think I have some carbon can company cans too somewhere, I've completely forgotten what they sound like

Had mine measured at 103db at 5k with token (Ref. Malory Park festival parade laps) after market noise restictors in place.

Usually run Carbon Can Company oval carbon cans that I repacked about 4 years ago and the sound changed a bit, still loud and agressive and howl on full chat.
Recetly chucked on a set of Redline Racing pipes, which are less loud, but more fruity, not had a WOT run yet.

Got Blueflames on mine and they sound terrific. Still got the baffles in and people (neighbours) can't believe they are legal.
Haven't compared them against another Falco (or standard pipes) but they sound sweet enough. Got to be one of the best safety features going; "in my opinion officer".
I've got Arrow's on mine.......loud enough for me. :plus:
What he said :plus: - great tone but maybe a bit loud for my tastes. Definitely not a "...well I'm just going down the street, I don't need the earplugs..." set of cans.
Still loving my Staintunes. Cant say my neighbours do...
I'm hearing ya!
If they are too loud for some people,
apparently they have baffles you can put in them
Takes no time at all I hear. Just two little hex bolts
Mmm...In saying that, I mustn't of ever had the time. ;)
Just love the note I get from my Aussie made Staintunes:aussie:
I think they're great, or am I just feeling patriotic?
Either way. I'm Happy.
:aussie:
Have a good weekend.

I like the Staintunes but ride with the baffles (dB restrictors) in most of the time.
When my wife tells me that I was unlucky to miss both sets of traffic lights (which are way out of sight) you get the hint that they may be a tad loud without the baffles.

Ahh -- yet another post-whoring opp for the good Dr.
I've heard and seen that Tig 80mm 2-1, and have to say - it's pretty obnoxious, both in form AND function.
I think the Falco sounds best (as does ANY twin) with Dual exhaust, and for my money - the Akra systems, OVERALL give the best compromise of sound, power, and looks.
Very subjective topic, this.
