View Full Version : My exhaust dyno run today

Standard 165bhp/ my slip-on 170bhp at rear wheel!!!
This is the graph from a run today, a gain of 5bhp through certain points low/mid and at the top. Fueling on the standard pipe is fairly rich and on my pipe it's a little leaner and cleaner but still well within safe parameters.
Basically I'm chuffed to bits with this great result, i appreciate all dynos vary but dynojet are known to be pretty accurate, so, way to go boys:D
Vid to follow, it sounded o my god!
The bottom graph is the fuel mix and below the dotted red line is the safe zone.

Looks like an impressively controllable power curve, very linear,
I'm very green with envy.

Rich, was this with or without the DB killer?
Rich22
07-17-2009, 02:31 AM
That was without the db killer, i am working on a few options for the killer as it doesn't kill enough at present. I aim to take it to near standard db levels so near standard power with it in.
The exhaust valve is fixed open on these runs which seems to help give the nice curve.
What's really nice is between 50 and 100 mph its a good boost and it irons out that glitch they all have at around 7k (also helped by fixing the valve open).

Got some db figures done today
on my hand held meter at 5500/6000 rpm they are
Standard can 102
My can (austinracing) 110
with db killer 105
with db killer extreme 103/104
not sure what the killers may do to the power but as its still reading slightly above the standard can i would think power will be close to standard can spec.
most uk track days "unless they are the 98db ones" will pass with the normal killer in.
not sure how the standard can gets through the 98 db days! maybe my meter reads high, if so you can knock off around 4 db across the board.

The guys that dyno'd my bike reckon that if i can get them the ecu unlocking code and access the maps we could see 180bhp at the rear wheel with my slip-on:D

Great result. But do you have a dyno graph showing Hp Vs RPM as opposed to Hp Vs Speed
Cheers

Hey Rich...
2 questions about your pipes.
What effect does removing the exhaust 'valve' have? If any?
Have you played with gearing?
Rich22
09-04-2009, 09:03 AM
Not played with gearing but a 1 tooth smaller front would be a good mod in my mind, the exhaust valve seems to have very little or no affect, it seems to be purely a noise reduction thing so just as well to leave it connected.

2 up on the rear does improve it (same sprocket as RSV). But it barely raised revs by 2-300rpm (if I recall correctly). So I would go 15/42 or 16/43. Even 15/43 would be bloody cracker!

Yep worth a try for sure mate

Rich you mention " with db killer extreme 103/104 " are you working on them ?? I'm keen to get a pipe, but in Hampshire the traffic cops have very good ears. As I have already been caught on my old 748r for noise issues, I have got to be careful. Your pipes are obvously the best I have seen. What happens if you simply extend the pipe by 50mm or so. Would that not help reduce the db level with the killer extended also. Keep up the good work, as I want one, but with a bit less noise please.

Dave
it's not a problem mate, i can do you a more extreme db killer and pull it down to near as damn it standard db levels, i have tried it and it works!
pm me mate
jrflanne, cheers mate
worth the wait mate when you do get it lets hope the sun is shining, it's pissing down here:pissed:
Have sent a couple of pipes to the US, be good to do some more to you guys though.:burnout:

...when you getting the bike then
Sadly I'm not.
But I would love to buy one. It is in my opinion the best bike you can currently buy.
But I will stick with my RSV for a little while yet, even if Im not as fast in the corners on it. :)
I have 3 kids under 6, a wife who apparently needs money to feed them and pay bills (:WTF:), and a couple of businesses that took a bitch slap for the last year or 2.
Besides... I have 3 mates who have them and Im thinking that means there is alwasy an RSV4 close at hand :D
