Judging Sports bike of the year is always a contentious event. By their very nature sports bikes are designed to excel at one particular discipline above all else; going fast. And in super bike terms that’s very fast indeed.
In our latest test, Aprilia’s RSV4 ran through our speed trap at an astounding and record-breaking 189mph.
If you forget the ultra special, low volume Desmosedici for a moment, that’s the fastest production bike we’ve ever recorded.

Reading the post he stated that "this is the fastest production bike we ever tested." So that's not to say that the 312R top speed was surpassed but the RSV4 tested actually went 189 not a manufactures claim but a tested 189!

ah ic , yup that makes more sense now, it could just be from mcn. because they tested the f4 at the bonneville flats and hit 193.8 something. but yea that makes sense now.

Dude, the salt flats with your mirrors removed and body taped up is not a test.
In the last Masterbike, the Suzuki was faster on top than the MV.
In burntout's quote, they're referring to the fact it's the fastest bike they've tested, including MV's, on that particular test venue.
Perhaps a little reading comprehension refresher and then read this:
