Has anyone replaced their mirrors with aftermarket parts?

I am looking to replace my mirrors because I need more visibility and I am tired of looking at my elbows and shoulders.

I hope to find mirrors that will bolt-on without any mods to the fairing. Any suggestions or leads will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bo

Good luck! I'll keep watching this thread, but I won't hold my breath. In my short experience with Aprilia mirrors, they suck.

Magical Racing in Japan makes an assort-
ment of high quality mirrors, along with
a selection of base mount plates and st-
alk lengths. www.magicalracing.co.jp

Another 'tricked out' option you could explore is leaving your fairing-mounted mirrors in place and adding mirrors to the threaded mirror holes on your handlebars ... 4 mirrors! You'll never worry about visibility again. heh heh

...a Mod's Vespa scooter then? Actually,
I saw one with like TEN mirrors.

I am planning to take apart my mirrors and mounts and see if I can fabricate something. My second choice is to put bar-end mirrors on.

Anyone know the dimensions of the mounting holes or how to even take apart the mirrors?

the end of the mirror has a bolt sticking out from the center of a dome which has a metal cap that rests on the mirror stay, which is also domed. from the inside of the upper there is a spring, a plastic spacer, and a nut, that's all there is to it.

dunno what kinds of bikes you guys owned, but the falco has the best mirrors of any sportbike I've ridden. Dunno what you expect, sportbike mirrors always suck :)

The Y2k Honda mirrors I put on my 96 VFR worked way better. On the Falco, all I see are my elbows.

Yeah dude, I'll tell you how I took mine off ... I wiped out on the ascent of a twisty road, the bike (and I) rolled downhill sideways about 4 times and at the end of it the mirrors were laying about 5 feet away ... along with the front blinkers, back blinkers, pieces of fairing, part of the fairing stay and other assorted sundry parts. Heh heh.
