Hello everyone. I do not own a Falco but hope to soon. This board has been very informative. The price I'm getting right now is good but not spetacular. I would like to try to get some accessories thrown in but don't know which are worth anything. Is the luggage any good? Tank pad, ect..? From reading, the pipes seem a little loud for my tastes. I would appreciate any info. Thanks.

I find the tank bag to be quite good. The soft panniers are a good size, but I very rarely use them, and are waterproof as far as I can tell. There are other options for baggage so you may want to look around.
The pipes being too loud.....well you can get Staintune ones with a removable baffle, so you can go stealthish or loud as your demeanour requires! Twins need to be heard though! You'll need a chip, oh, and get yourself a freer breathing airkit (Renegade or Evo or if you have the knack and time, you can build your own evo style homade jobbie. Info on this is in the RSV forum.
Good luck on your purchase.
Get the deal with your first service thrown in at the very least (about a $200-300 job).

What year, miles, condition is the bike in and how much are they asking, that'll tell us if your price is good or not. A set of factory RSC Carbons and chip will run from $800-$1000 dending on the dealer. The luggage is a $400 dollar option, and you might not think about wanting it now, but the first time you want to ride it five or six hours and spend the night somewhere, you'll be glad you have them. Tank pad, you mean a full leather pad that covers the back half of the tank, or a tank protector/non-slip sticker. Personally, I don't like tank pads, but I do have one of the thick rubber stickers to keep my zippers and buttons from scratching the tank.
I'm not sure you're going to find a dealer willing to throw in any accessories just to sweeten up the deal. Certainly not pipes or luggage. You might be able to get him to throw in a helmet or a big discount on some pipes. Some dealers offer the first service free as incentive.

I actually had a GREAT change of plans today. Turns out my local dealer will match the out of state price. So I only have to drive 15 minutes instead of 6.5 hours. As I found out, the Aprilia factory is 45 minutes away here in Georgia. It will be a fectory new 03. I'm getting Aprilia incentive plus a little. Hopefully he will still honor the CycleWorld show coupon I picked up that says "buy any new 1000cc Aprilia and get $300 worth of Aprilia accessories at purchase." Comming off a BMW, luggage is tops on the list. I was just looking to see if Aprilia's was worth anything. Nothing can ruin a trip like poor luggage. I agree twins need to sound good, but not loud. Plus I've always had a soft spot for Akrapovic. Just trying to get some ideas of whats out there thats good. I have not heard a Falco run, or even ridden one. I'm going by reviews and whats been said over here. I am getting excited. I'll let you guys know when I'm offically a new owner. Know anyone looking for a mint 1991 BMW K100RSA.....? Thanks again.

The Falco luggage seems pretty good to me. I don't use it much but it is nice stuff. Sturdy construction and mounting hardware. Looks as good as soft luggage can on a sport-type bike. Waterproof slip-covers for bad weather. I do use the tank/tail bag though. I usually put it on the tail and run the straps under the passenger seat to keep it off the paint.

My last bike was a BMW also... it was an '85 K100RS. I don't think that you will be disappointed in the bike. The performance is head and shoulders above and reliability is on par. Luggage options are shite, there is no comparison... only compromise. The bike can be toured on. Check out www.splyn.com for a review.
The rear shock is crap. Some will defend it, but you will be doing yourself a favor if you replace it. Also the seating position is pretty aggressive, compared to the Beemer. There are some options discussed on this board, Gilles and Helibars.
You are missing out on the vtwin experience if you opt not to replace the stock pipes. They are loud, no doubt, maybe you could consider staintune. I have heard they are less offensive.
Good luck.

Hey, Jeff. I live in Cumming, just a few hundred minutes north of Atlanta. I'd love to show off my Falco sometime if you want to have a look. Not much riding weather this week, but let me know what you think. I've got the luggage, Evo race airbox conversion, RSV pipe and titanium race exhaust (so you can see just how loud really is), Ohlins rear from an RSV, and a few other odds and ends. Pics on my website (http://home.earthlink.net/~allensatlanta/kallen/Falco/falco.html).

Thanks everybody. I'm leaning towards luggage. Any one have it out in a downpour? Is it REALLY waterproof? How hard is it to remove/install the mounting hardware? I realize it will not come close to BMW, but nobody can match their luggage. My 4000mi trip days are over for a while (thus the change of bike). Hey Keith, I just may take you up on the offer one day soon. I work on the Cumming/Alpharetta border (around HWY 9 and McFarland). I live in Canton, so we're pratically neighbors. Hopefully I can seal the deal Tuesday and get her sometime this week. Thanks again.
