I feel that I ask too many questions for a non-owner, but I'm close and unlike with past bikes I want to put some planning into my mods. Responses in the past have definitely been helpful, e.g. I ran from the dealer that said the seat cowl was separate and found a dealer that says it's included. I want to double check the "facts" as they've been given from the new dealer:
- His invoice is $9,130 + $190 Freight, putting me at about $10K OTD. He says there are no rebates or incentives on an 02, but an 01 would get a $1K rebate (I want an 02). Don't know how some get to $9K OTD.
- Derestriction on this model is only the airbox restricter removal, there is no wire to clip?? (This goes against a recent Motorcyclist review).

*** My '01 got me a $1,500 rebate. This I didn't have to 'haggle' for as it was offered by the manufacturer, not the dealer, and my dealer gladly mentioned it. If you're considering the '01 at all I'd doublecheck that figure again ... not to speak ill of your dealer or anything but what if he were pocketing the difference?

- Derestriction on this model is only the airbox restricter removal, there is no wire to clip?? (This goes against a recent Motorcyclist review).

*** There are no differences between the '01 and '02 -- none -- except for the color scheme/paint job and the black matted frame. This goes for the airbox as well. So yes, derestricting it will involve removing the airbox restricter as well as clipping the little wire.

On a lighter note, the $190 freight charge sounds a little cheap unless you live very close by. Sounds like you could be saving some money there. Better yet, why don't you just ride your new 'priller away from the shop? Make your honeymoon ride a roadtrip. :p

If you research my past entries you will find that a dealer north of me was aking $9,500 for an 02 w/ rebates......When I went to make the deal I showed up w/ an $8,500 Bank Check made out to the dealership as my deposit.

Because the deal/price was represented to me as a REBATE I ASSUMED I cound cut a deal at $8,500 + Tax out the door. .... WRONG! WRONG!

Lets try the $9,500 was yrear end close out PLUS they wanted $500 in Dealer BS Add On's.

They asked the BS question of "How much would I let the make ..I said $500 The deal is at $10,000 PLUS TAX.

Cut a deal across FLA for Bike w/ 400 miles, plus Cans and Chip, Aprilial Helmet and Leather Jacket for about $10K plus tax.

Whoops! sorry about that mind reading thing. Hope I don't owe you any money for the short story... :D

For me, bikes are not an economic decision. They make no financial sense in chicago, especially owning multiple bikes. If I see one that tugs at my heart and I have the cash or credit, it's a done deal.

It is kinda fun making the dealers squirm a little. They will do the same to you for the rest of the time you own the bike...

Unfortunately, I'm in northern Virginia... Cold, damp, yucky... Anyway, my folks live a little south of Atlanta, so I figured I'd swing by NFMP to shake down my new SV racebike and the Falco. Think you can make it up there?

I recently shopped for an 02', and $10k OTD is in the ball park. I also strongly recommend avoiding Spectrum Motorsports sales department. After agreeing on a trade-in price (from the owners, no less) and sticker....their PIN HEAD sales manager informs me that he's not interested in doing the deal. So, with check book in hand I went to L.A. Cycle in Marina Del Ray and picked up an 01' with chip and carbon pipes. I hope you find one because this is a helluva bike. Happy Happy Happy.

The Faclo, unlike the Mille, still comes with 2 fuel maps, one leaner, one richer and clipping the wire or keeping it whole just means one or the other... So I can see how your dealer might not think of it as "derestriction" in the same sense as physically derestricting the airflow.

I got My 01 for 10k OTD Last winter. Other people got better deals. I could not possible care less. The Falco is such an amazing and perfect machine, I'd buy it all over again and happily pay 12 if I had to.

I purchased the Falco you are asking about. The reason I think he got no bids was he listed it only as "Falco" with no Aprilia anywhere in the ad - that's why I hadn't come across it until Dan pointed it out. Having it in the garage while it's -5 F in MN is just about unbearable - can't wait for spring.

Hi,
I'm new and hopefully will be joining you guys on the street soon with a Falco myself. Been saving up for two years for a bike and I test rode many -- the Falco fits me the best. Now if I can only find one for under $11,000...anybody selling:p
