I'm in negotiations right now with a dealer for a new 2001 Falco for around $8000. The quoted price is $7999 plus all the extras(tax, title, prep, freight, etc.) All the extras add up to about $425. I told him if he will sell it to me for $8K out the door I'll take it.

Do you think I should be firm with my offer of $8K and not buy the bike if they won't sell it to me for that, or should I be happy at $8425?

Either way, I think this is a pretty good deal. The bike is brand new, 0 miles, never registered.

I'd like your opinions on this.

Thanks,

Go for it! It sounds like a bargain to me.

I wouldn't push him on the price. He is unlikely to be making much money on the deal, if any. Instead of pressing the price down to $8k, see if he has a set of carbon pipes that he would throw into the deal at cost. Or consider asking for the first service to be included.

It may not seem like a big deal at the time of purchase, but at some point you are going to need the guy to go to bat for you.

Better yet, just buy the bike. You will have a $500 grin on your face every time you ride it and when someone walks past a Ducati to talk to you about your Priller.

It's a bargain when you think about it.

I don't think the dealer has any profit left at that price, you are getting a great bike for a bargain. Why do people have to be so inconsiderate when doing business, remember you'll want the dealer to stay in business for when you need his service.
Would you like your employer to start bargaining with you on pay day ?, it wouldn't pay for you to show up at work everyday if you aren't going to benefit right. It's one thing when the asking price is full mark up, I understand you are buying a left over but it's not a spoiled fruit. You are getting an up to date machine, it's the one with polished frame, it will respond to derestriction with great pleasure and turn in to a beast underneath you. Buy the bike and broom broom enjoy. I'm a business person, can you tell ?.

I spoke to the dealer again today. He gave me 2 prices - $8000 and $8200. The first price is if I come pick it up, which is about a 6 hr drive roundtrip. The 2nd price is if he delivers it to me.

My buddy has a pickup, we could go get it, but the timing sucks as I'm going out of town this weekend and will have to wait until next Saturday. So I'm thinking of letting them deliver it to me. On the other hand, it will only cost about $40 in gas to get there and back, saving me $160, which is just about 1 full payment for the bike.

Either way, the bike shall soon be mine. I can't wait!

Thanks for your input.
