I was thinking about putting another mountain loop together for a Post Santa Run and was wondering what the recent snow did to the area. Are the roads totally wrecked with cinders, salt and black ice? You know...the usual suspects Rt 339, Rt 125, Rt 54...
Thanks.

not much in the way of cinders, but the roads are still stained white from the salt, wednesday rain and 50 degrees, so it should wash everything down, if the roads are cleaned i'll probably head out just for a zip around town just to run it and charge up the battery,

Things weren't too bad here in Jersey by Sunday afternoon. I only had to wiggle accross 2 ice/salt patches. I think the salt was as bad as the ice!
With a little rain Friday or Saturday should be nice.

I don't know about the road conditions, but it is good to meet someone familiar with the roads I frequent. I live just south of York. I am looking to buy a used Futura. Do you know of any available in the area? What has your experience been like with the local dealers and parts availability?

I know that the local guy in Upper Darby (Crossroads Powersports) on West Chester Pike Route 3 has got 2 or 3 Futuras that he can't do a thing with...I'm sure he'd give you a good deal. If you go tell them Carlos sent you and you may get kicked out :D
He also has 1 or 2 Caponords that seem to be collecting dust.
South of York eh? Red Lion? I guess Rt 372 ain't too shabby...a lot of development though has been killing it for me.

Hey what's the mountain report right now? I was thinking of putting together a loop for Saturday.

I was up there yesterday. The roads were in decent condition. Gravel in the corners where you would expect it to be. The tight corners on the steep hills. Around Blue Mountain much the same way. Aside from those few corners, the roads were pretty clean.

Thanks.
I spent Sunday riding in the area. Roads are fine. Two of us took them up on a trailer and rode the secret serpintine hills of Tamaqua, Mahanoy city,Shenandoah, Frackville...First time I found out what a ten mile per hour corner can be! Great area...No traffic...NO bikes...Awesome time.
Poconos are my favorite local mountains, with my typical lunch stop at Jim Thorpe bike joint.
Typically I take 662 to 61 to 209 plus local riding. I return using 309 to 100. That's my loop.
One I saw a Falco at a gas station near 61N. Was it you Buddy?

Not mine, Somebody else must of purchased one also....It's a great bike. I have owned 36 different bikes and currently have five. The falco is underated, Or should I say SQUID FREE!
Carlos,
I am near Downingtown. I bought my Cappy in NY at the end of January, I got my first service at CrossRoads, Philly dealership. Last time I was there, they had a Futura and 2 Tuonos.
Where are you located? Do you service your Aprilia there? Are you happy with them?

I live about 3 minutes from Crossroads in Drexel Hill. I had a little run in with their management last Fall when I was shopping around for my Falco. Did they still have a Falco in the showroom? Anyway...I've been tracking these guys for a few years and I've never had reason to use their service yet.
Send me an email with your contact info cdtres@mindspring.com
Carlos,
I will email you. I tried to buy the Capo there but they asked $1000 more for a 02 than I paid for a 03. I went there for the first service, with a 2 or 3 day notice, they treated me well, but I am not sure if they did the full maintenace per the book. The truth is the bike runs great!!
I did not see there a Falco, only 1 Mille R, 2 Tuono and 1 Futura. They sold the 02 Capo, I saw in the backshop being fitted with the saddlebags and xbox.
BTW, where do you service your bike?

My garage :D
Seriously...this bike's got 2,000 miles and it's only seen oil changes so far. It's going for its first dyno run mid-April at Blackman's. Runs solid so far.

I had the same problem with them over Falco pricing. I wanted to keep my money local but they wouldn't play.
This whole Aprilia dealer network is suspect...
