i noticed that one of mine's is fraying at the control unit end and it's kinda worrying cos now i expect it to snap any moment

where do i go for a suitable replacement?

Yes,
your Aprilia dealer.
I've just changed mine as one of them broke a few weeks ago.
It took about 10 days to get them, and since it involves tank and air filter removal, I had my dealer do it.
Total cost £50, and half of it was for the two cables.

P.S. You can still ride the bike if one of them breaks, as I found out by using it for three weeks :-)

had the tank and stuff off this morning as i finally got around to fitting my new K&N filter, so that's do-able. how much were the cables alone then?

I believe they were around £25.
I can tell you later on when I get home and see the receipt :-)

They are not the same, so make sure you buy two different ones!!
