Hello all,
For those of you who have already done this don't worry but for those of you who haven't then please take part.
If more of us recommend a performance air filter for the Shiver we stand a greater chance of one being developed.

Hey Dan
Good call, I did this a few weeks back. I bet they will do one soon, but come on everyone it only takes a few minutes to fill in the details on the K&N website.

I've filled it in, but I'm not convinced of the value of a K&N filter on the Shiver, with it's engine management system etc.

Did that a few weeks ago too.
Good point about the engine management though.
I guess it will only be worth it when the entire kit is available.
Filter, exhaust, and power commander.
I just put my name down for the K&N filters and intakes.
i think i will keep the bike how it is for a year. pay off most of my loan and then go a bit crazy on it when i have more money again

done.
Any idea what kind of performance enhancement could be expected? Or is Burty right on the whole engine management system front? I'm sure I've read on another forum (Superbike) that a Power Commander would have a hard job altering fuelling...

It would have to be a new type I reckon.
But ride-by-wire is (IMO) how things will go in the future so they have to get it together sometime. Why not now?
I have written to them a few months ago begging as well.

Cheers guys, I know we have different opinions on the benefits of fitting an
air filter but I am really keen to do it so thanks for your help.
I have fitted a K&N to every car / bike I have ever owned and always got results
as well as the lifetime guarantee and the fact you never have to change the filter again benefits.
I've sorted the exhaust side now, intake is next.
Thanks again
Dan:)

Just completed the questionere, bt anybody had any new yet about a K&N for the Shiver....... Always seen the longer term benefit of a K&N in terms of buuy it once and then just clean it, but not looking for the power increases, as they are rarely all they are cracked up to be!
Hopefully news soon.

just had another look on here, they are now listing the 1200 Shiver in the
bike list, surely they have something for the Shiver by now? it's been out
for almost 12 months.
it would be great if the 70 or so of us on the Shiver list who haven't already could recommend an air filter for the Shiver.

Does anyone know of any other air filter manufactures??

But they don´t offer a filter for the shiver.
I´ve sent both an email and asked if they plan to develop one, I´ll post their answer.

Dan, enjoy your weekend in Würzburg,
we had to delay our holiday, so I´m still at home.

Hi Dagmar,
I got back last night and it was great, I was very impressed with how well all the German people I met spoke the English Language.
I was a beautiful place and I had a really nice break there.

Still nothing from K&N?!?!?! Anyone have any other ideas they've come across?
I submitted, assuming it will be the same as the Dorsoduro.

I've got a modified airbox - top chopped off and a second filter (from a 1200 bandit) fitted.

I think the engine management system being so sophisticated will be more likely to liberate the advantages of better airflow that more simple systems, I may be wrong?

I'm surprised K&N are not interested. I know the Shiver is not a big seller, but now the dorso is on the scene there must be a small market. (Maybe they will be interested eventually).

I think this is going to be the best alternative for the time being...

I had the airbox mod done at the same time as having a PCIII from an RSV fitted (already had the carbon leos and de-cat)

Is the air box the same for Shiver & DD?
Know the DD aftermarket is lagging relative to the Shiver.
Some people view the 2 bikes as the same & others treat them different.
It is frustrating to have to wait for manufactures to say:
"yes" this Shiver part will fit a DD or "no" here is the DD part.
If it takes too long... guess I could do what MediaTrash did & mod my own.

The airbox is the same, and the filter is also.
I normally compare one of the on-line parts suppliers part numbers if I ever want to know if a part is the same. Like:
http://www.apriliaparts.co.uk/?section=shop&product_section=spares&filter=750cc
Sometimes it can be a bit tricky finding something (I hunted for ages and never found either sprocket listed).
As far as the DD and Shiver is concerned, rather unsurprisingly most of the parts that you think will be the same are. Some you think won't be are also.

To be perfectly honest mostly it's curiosity rather than any real value in knowing if the part is shared. I mean there's not yet a huge second hand parts source, but I guess there could be. However it can sometimes be useful to cross reference to other Aprilia models like RSV/Tuono

Thanks Burty... it is those few parts (Shiver thinking it will fit DD) that I might order that are not the same that causes me concern... caution and diligence a must.
My other bike spoiled me for aftermarket stuff.
